67-72 Bench Seat Bracket Differences

Just thought I would add a few pics of the differences in the 67-72 bench seat brackets.
They are divided by the following years:
67-68
69-70
71-72

The "floor side" of the brackets are all the same.
It's the "seat side" that is different.

I will post the pictures I have,... but I really need good clear pictures of a set of 67-68 and 69-70 seat brackets, if anyone has them.
I would like to make a FAQ on this subject.

Many people don't realize these are year specific, and don't interchange.
Please post pics of what you have,...

67-68
These are the 67-68 version.
(they are upside down from normal installation)
I have circled the main difference.
The "sheetmetal" rear seat riser.

The other difference is the adjustment arm is just a stamped metal arm.
The 69-70 and 71-72 arms have a black plastic coating on the arm, besides the plastic knob.

Re: 67-72 Bench Seat Bracket Differences

1 Attachment(s)
69-70
The 69-70 version have a tall "straight" rear seat riser.
These only work with the 69-70 seat frames.
(the 71-72 seat frame is different)
Does anyone know if these will work with the 67-68 seats?

Re: 67-72 Bench Seat Bracket Differences

1 Attachment(s)
71-72
The 71-72 seat brackets have a lower "curved" rear seat riser.
These work only with the 71-72 lower seat frames.

Hey VA,... if you have any pics of the bucket seat mounts,... post them here, please.
Maybe the difference between the 67-72 and 73-75(?) mounts.

I have this "67-72 vs 73-75 bucket seat bracket info" from the other thread:
You "could" swap the front stands (floor mount) and use them, but they'd still be 5/8" inch taller at the front and 1/2" taller at the rear...

The bucket seat brackets are the same at the bottom rear for 69-72 and 73-up.
It's the front stands on the bottom and BOTH upper stands that are different.
The front stands on the bottom (cab floor side) are a full inch taller on the 73-up brackets.

The pieces that bolt to the seats are the same bolt pattern but different heights also. The front seat mount stand is 3 1/4" high on the 69-72 bucket mounts and 3 7/8" on the 73-up
The rear seat mount stand is 2 7/8" high on 69-72 bucket mounts and 3 3/8" on the 73-up

Will do. I'll take pictures later this evening or tomorrow and note the measurements on the pictures to make it easier to understand.

Re: 67-72 Bench Seat Bracket Differences

I thought the differences were for the full foam and spring seat bottoms. Didn't realize it was year specific.

If I'm reading that correctly, it sounds like later buckets can be bolted to the correct bucket brackets for our year of truck and installed with no drilling. If that's true, then I also hope the same is true for benches.

Yes, later bucket seats can be bolted on to the correct brackets with no drilling. 73-75 buckets almost look identical to 71-72 foam...the top foam is slightly different but the bottom foam is identical...

Not aware of any benches that bolt onto the stock bench brackets other than the benches designated for that year bracket...

Here are the mounts...I will post better close up pictures tonight with measurements added but this should help people identify the brackets if they see them for sale or on a set of seats.

I agree. Someone may be doing a year correct restoration and could use this info. I wasn't aware of the differences either.

This isn't neccessarily for "correct restorations".
It matters for any 67-72 truck when replacing the seat brackets.
They physically don't interchange unless paired up to the correct seat.

I see them for sale all the time in the classifieds,... and no one specifies which year they are for.
Just 67-72.
I found out when I bought the incorrect set for my '69.

Does anyone have a good clear picture of the 67-68 bench seat mounts?

Also a BIG thanks to VA72C10 for the excellent bucket seat pics!

We may have to add "Utility Buckets" to this thread,... if anyone has good pics.

I can snap pics of mine (1967) just let me know what to look at and what to take pics of. My brackets are still on the seat which is setting in the cab not installed so I can remove it easily.

I just need clear upright pics of the 67-68 seat brackets from the side and front.
Prefer off the truck seat.

Thanks to member fastcam1,... here's a better picture of the 67-68 seat brackets.
I circled the rear seat riser that is a stamped sheetmetal bracket.
(different than the 69-70 or 71-72 brackets)

Re: 67-72 Bench Seat Bracket Differences

I see fastcam beat me to it, I'm at work for a couple more hrs. Thanks for posting the differences Keith. There are so many little differences on these trucks that most people don't know about, including me. I learned a lot of them so far and many the hard way.
