Help Please! Installing a Dakota Digital gauge cluster need some help locating the 12V constant and 12V Accessory/Ignition switch. Also what is BU LPS hook up for? ‘69 C10

Thanks Tyler

The picture is rotated 90 degrees for some reason

Are you looking for the constant feed to the fuse block, and the ignition on feed plus the accessory feed?

If so the constant feed is a red wire that goes to the back of the fuse block and it feeds the fuses for the hazard flasher, the dome and stop lamp fuses and the CIG terminal.

The ignition feed is a pink wire from the ignition switch which powers the cluster feed fuse, the ignition unfused terminals and the radio fuse.

The accessory section is fed by a 12 gauge brown wire from the key switch to the fuse panel and it powers the wiper fuse the heat/ac fuse the turn signal flasher.

The B/U LPS fuse is for the back up lights, and you should have a green wire going there over to the neutral start switch on the steering column, and a green wire with it runs to the back of the truck for the lights.

Here is a diagram of the key switch wiring showing the feed wires off the switch at the top. The 12 gauge red wire feed the switch and it joins with three other wires in a junction in the next diagram which shows the red wires
(constant hot) which feed the fuse panel the horn relay and the headlight switch (blue arrow)
Coming off the ignition switch is the 12 gauge brown wire that feeds the accessory section of the fuse panel, and the pink wire for the ignition, which also joins two other pink wires that feed the fuse panel and goes to the inside cab connector to feed the ignition coil.

This diagram shows the junctions of the large red wires and the smaller pink wires that go to the fuse panel. The large red wire is the constant hot for the fuses I mentioned above and the pink wire feeds the ignition key on powered fuses.
From the fuse panel the Clstr Feed fuse via the pink wire, runs to the cluster connection plug, which is where your new cluster will get it's power from.

I see you have a small red wire connected to the fuse panel at the IGN UNfused terminal. Is that for the new cluster? Also there ore other strange wires on your panel. It looks like some stereo wire on there too.
I don't see a wire connected to the Fuel GA. terminal in the edge of the panel. It should have a tan or brown small wire from the tank sender unit to rune from the back of the fuse panel to the fuel gauge in the cluster. It also runs to the cluster plug.

It's important to know what cluster came in the truck from the factory. Was it an idiot light cluster with three gauges and lights, or was it a seven gauge cluster. The wiring to the plug is different for each of the clusters. you can see that by comparing the two diagrams.

Here is a better picture of the fuse box.

I have other helpful stuff if you need more details.

Thanks for the Help. The C10 had a factory 7 gauge cluster. The new cluster has a module that everything wires into. Then a CAT 5 cable from the module to the instrument cluster. Attached is a picture. The module needs to have a constant feed 12V feed and Accessory Feed. Want to make sure I get it right. I guess the constant feed could come straight from the battery with a inline fuse

Re: 1969 C10 Fuse Block

Constant hot seems pretty easy, just fuse the 18 gauge wire to the Dakota digital input.
Do you have an adaptor to plug the DD into the cluster plug? How are you connecting the speed sensor and tach sensors?
Are the digital gauges compatible with the temp and oil sensors?

Many of the members here have installed the DD gauge clusters so there should be plenty of info for you on doing that. VV

Yup. The Cluster connects to the Module with a CAT 5 cable. The DD came with sensors w/ new wiring. Speed sensor comes off the Transmission,

Sounds like you are set. Just pick a constant hot voltage source and follow their instructions.
