trans swap ??

I have an 84 k10 chassis. 383 stroker. 700r4. np208. I have a good th400 out of a 2wd I would like to put in and use my np208. It's my hunting truck, no real serious abuse. lot of mud though. What do I need to do this swap? this is low budget, I'd like to stick with what I got. Thanks

Re: trans swap ??

if your 700r4 works fine just leave it alone . keep it good and cool and happy .

swapping out for the th400 might = driveshaft length changes . but more important the 700r4 is 27 spline output and the th400 is 32 spline . so the np208 input gear will need to be swapped or find a good t-case setup for 32 spline input . the adapter is also going from a 4 bolt trans side to a 6 bolt . so you will need that . last but most important is the length and style of the th400 output shaft . there was 5-6 good comon used ones . some 2wd can be used on 4x4 some cant . the th400 also needs the gas pedal mounted kick down switch added for the passing gear . lots of trucks have the pedal braket setup for it . you just need the 40-50 bucks new switch on popular auction sites onlinE ( hint hint E ) and some wire and a bolt to hold it on the bracket .

and the 700r4 has that low first gear the th400 dosn't have it . so after the swap it might feel like a dog off the line .

i my self dont like the 208 . there a bit weaker than the 241 . this would take the same shifter so no swap there . there in around 87ish - up trucks / blazers / suburbans still with the solid front axle pass side drop .

or find a 205 cast iron gear to gear . but thats a different shifter setup and less low range crawl ratio but a tank of a t-case .

found this for ya off my other old computer.
