and what it looks like now.... http://i277.photobucket.com/albums/k...0110001258.jpg Looks good! Amazing what blacking out just the grille and headlight buckets does to the aggressiveness of these trucks! That's next on my list! |

Hey All, I'm new here from Sarnia Ont. Canada. here's my personal ride: 1987 chevy V10 custom deluxe, made from a patchwork of other 80's chevs and gmc trucks (wrangler hood for one example) im currently redo-ing the interior and the engine could use some love.. on its second 350 TBI with sm465 and 208 t case, never given me any trouble, just kind of slow... id like to eventually make it more into a k30 with 8 lug axles and 16" steel wheels.

Re: How about some pics of 73-87 Long Beds?
I have been hooked on these since I was little, dad bought a 77 in 79 and in 97 when I was 5, he got an 85.
My first 73-87 was a 1973 GMC C15, 307 2bbl, 3 on the tree (it moved decent- 0-60 in 11 seconds) 118K, 1 owner before me. Guy that bought it new sold to a local dealer, thats where I got it from. We nicknamed it "big bird" http://i120.photobucket.com/albums/o...x/DSC00924.jpg http://i120.photobucket.com/albums/o...x/DSC00927.jpg http://i120.photobucket.com/albums/o...x/DSC00931.jpg Alum wheels and a toolbox (I put a chrome front bumper on it later, and a black rear) http://i120.photobucket.com/albums/o...bigbird1-1.jpg And her fate http://i120.photobucket.com/albums/o...lover001-1.jpg Luckily I had my seatbelt on (and it only had lap belts) so I was ok, but I pulled the drive train, interior, and wheels and junked the rest:waah: http://i120.photobucket.com/albums/o...lover013-1.jpg |

Re: How about some pics of 73-87 Long Beds?
Before I rolled that truck, I wanted a diesel so I got this and drove for about 2 months
http://i120.photobucket.com/albums/o...SC012152-1.jpg The frame was so rusty I parted the truck out- I kept a lot of it (eng/trans/tcase/axles/cab/rad support) Then I went back to driving the '73 After that I drove a Ford for a while (please don't kill me, LOL) |
Re: How about some pics of 73-87 Long Beds?
What caused you to roll? Did the trailer jack knife?
|
Re: How about some pics of 73-87 Long Beds?
Ya. As it turns out the trailer was pretty worn out, when it was on jackstands the axles would move side to side about an inch because of worn shackles. We learned this after it was rolled. Also, for some reason, the back left tire was much taller than the others. Had it been the same size as the others, this might not have happened.
It started to sway, then the left rear trailer brake locked up. The trailer whipped to the left, pulling the truck around, and everything went in. The truck is facing right in the pic, I was actually going to the left but it spun all the way around and rolled into the ditch. I do miss my 3 on the tree. |

Heres my old 85 GMC Sierra Classic. I installed the clip and doors from a 1990 suburban, then I lost interest and bought my crewcab. I then stripped the truck for all the good parts and dropped it off at the wreckers :-(:pty:
