Are wheels like these of any value today?

Yeah, when I traded my set for a set of 16" the junkyard was going to use them to prop up junk cars :lol:

Unfortunately not really. Due to the fact 16's have really taken over on the size chart. That also makes no mention of 17's, 18's, and 20's. All of which offer a good selection of proper tires for HD trucks. Due to 16's coming on the market. 16.5's really have lost most of there available tires.

The few people who do want them seem to put hummer tires on them.

On my old C20 I had a nice set of turbine rims I had to get rid of due to lack of tire selection. I went pyo's, and never looked back.

I agree with the others that there is very little value in a 16.5 rim. Wheel vintiques series 82 are identical to those stock rims, but in the much more common 16" size. Link below. I have the 10x16 rims of the same series, and am well pleased with them.

I would say YES, if they were 16in not the 16.5. 16.5 is getting harder to get. Not impossible, but there are few decent tire options in this size as it is not common anymore. 16.5 is also useless off road due to the bead design. If you air down much at all, the 16.5 is way more likely to come off the bead than a 16in.
The 16in is a very common size still. While 17+ is what is used most on new trucks(due to increases in brake sizes), the 16in is still very very common and what nearly all 3/4 ton trucks/vans used till the mid-late 90's. The change to the 16in from the 16.5in happened in the 70's. This means that there are millions of trucks and vans using the 16in wheels.
As for real money value? I just paid $15 each for a set of 16in wheels. Some charge more, but if you look you can get them for a decent price. I would expect 16.5 rims to be in the $5-$25 range per wheels depending on how deluded the owner is.

Also, if looking for stock 16in rims, the Ford Van rims used on the trucks and vans are the same bolt pattern as the Chevy/GMC and the hub cap is the same size. These wheels are stamped Accuride and are 7in wide. These are the widest factory 16in 8 lug stock wheel that I know of. If you need wider, go aftermarket, stockton wheel, Wheel Vintiques, etc. But if 7in will do, these are still around in wrecking yards all over the USA. They are also very strong wheels and probable as good or stronger than any aftermarket offerings.

Actually as I recall the 16.5 rims had a fairly brief run in the 1970s or so. At one time they were the "new thing" and supposedly far better for heavier campers because you could run a wider tire for more capacity and stability.

My 1973 K20 had 16" split rims from the factory with 7.50-16 bias ply D range.. My 1976 C20 had 16.5" rims when I bought it in 1996 (assume they were factory?) along with some horrible rough tires. The first thing I did was traded them at a junkyard for a set of 16" with used 245/75(E) radials ($100?) and then a few years later bought some new tires. It's going to need new tires again if I ever get the engine rebuilt.

After a bit of research, according to the GMC/Chevy sales brochures the last year for 16.5 rims was 1981, in 1982 they all had 16in from the factory.
This is GM, Ford and Dodge may have been a few years one way or the other, but I bet close to the same time.
Yes, I am sure that aftermarket wheels were made in the 16.5in size for at least a few more years, maybe even into the early 90's, but that would be hard to nail down.

Want to talk about worthless, I have a set of 15in SPLIT RIMS from my 1965 Chevy C10 that are in a pile by the shed. Fire rings?

Can't you still buy tire tubes anymore ???

Worst thing is those won't fit a 1971++ pickup because they won't fit over the front disc brakes.

I have a 1986,G-30 motorhome that came with the 16.5 wheels.Calls for the 16.5 tires on the spid.
I removed them and now use the 16" wheels.Did the same for my 82,C-30 car hauler.Just too hard to find tires for them.
The 16.5's are worthless around here.Chevy,Ford and Dodge used them.
I take them to the scrap yard.

Seems like most everything was 16" in the 1950s and then in the 1960s they went to 15" on the half ton six hole, and stayed mostly 16" on 3/4 ton (I know there were some "odd" larger wheels). I'm not a trivia expert but I've just owned or driven or worked on a lot of old trucks. I bought a nice pair of 6.50-16 mud/snow tires/wheels for my old 65 C10, but the wheels/tires that came with it were 7.00-15. Those work out to about the same overall diameter.

Yeah not really. I had my original set on CL for a few months, ended up selling the set of 4 for $25.00 Better than a poke in the eye I guess... I thought about turning one into a garden hose holder for the yard...

Yeah, I've got a set of GMT400 wheels which for reasons I will not say are not fit to be used for original purpose.

One of them has been re-purposed as a self-draining container for tire chains :)

I'm planning to use a couple more of them as a portable sign stand and a reinforcement for a t post that won't go in the ground more than a few inches because of a rock shelf: just turn them deep side up and stand up the post in the center hole and fill the wheel with rocks.
