18 original mile 87 chevy on craigslist

Here is an interesting squarebody find , 1987 chevy truck with 17 original miles , I remember my high school auto shop class had a donated 1988 chevy truck that supposedly had a bent frame It was a complete driver though .

We had a red 1987 long bed that was donated to our auto shop program when I was in high school so the story is plausible . ours did not have a title either. It did however have a bent frame. It fell whil unloading from a hauler and bent the frame at about the cab bed junction. It was slight but could be seen with the naked eye. It too ended up as a parts truck.

I hope that wasn't that catalytic converter bend. It looks bent but it ain't.

It was the frame. The body line and gap at the top of the bed-cab junction was the giveaway . it was a red with charcoal interior long bed V6 truck. Had the tiniest little tires on white wheels with base hubcaps.

back story is very plausible I have an 86 Chassis with only 64 miles on it from a tech school.

Truck looks way to used to be original mileage, I'm calling BS on this one....

Very plausible story. Bought a M1031 CUCV dually conversion that only had 54 original miles on it that had sadly been used as a parts truck. Looked worse than that one.
But you could tell from how clean the frame was, absolutely no grease or oil on anything, etc.

Definitely plausible. We had a 1987 El Camino that was donated to our high school auto class due to one of the tie down hooks pulling through the frame during train transport. They use hooks on the ends if the chains that lock into the oval holes in the frames. The tear in the frame was extremely minor and could have been easily repaired, but apparently GM couldn't sell it due to the frame damage. Perfect car otherwise. Looked just like this car.

Always wondered what happened to it.

Mike

I took auto shop in high school. We had a new Chevy Caprice wagon (1984), that fell off a transport truck; bent frame. We had a new Ford F150 that was in a flood (1985). We also had private owner donated cars; Vega, Dart, Imperial, even a 1970 Datsun 2000 roadster. I LOVED that car. I totally believe this add, it states there was never a title; and I think there will never be one. So, your buying a parts truck with no road use; but lots of teenage boys abuse..... Also states, it's been sitting outside since 1987. Our cars were pushed in/out as needed for space. :metal:

Be careful buying a 'donated to school by factory' car. A lot of them came with a 'Can't be sold to public' clause. Be worth a check with DMV before purchase on if it can be titled for on road use.

DBLSPRT68 - my mom had a 1969 Datsun 2000 during my high school and college days. Blast to drive the few times she let me. Loved the sticker in the glove box on recommended tire ratings based on normal driving speeds, <90mph, 90-120mph, >120mph.

would probably be a easy sell if it was a 4x4 that only got trailered. i owned my offroad only rig since 2006. i do have the title but never bothered to change it over

Donated or Crushed is the usual fate of transport damaged cars.

Took a whole rail car load to the crusher after it derailed.
And they just had the sides caved in.

Don't quote me exactly, but more than 2k of damage has to disclosedo and 5k and up is crushed.

Your never going to get a title for that truck and it has no engine, but parts alone must easily be worth the asking price if mileage is true.

Another example of a low mileage donated vehicle. NO title though.
