235 ID please

So I picked up another 235 today. Could not resist. Good deal.
so it has a 848 head, 1960. Engine codes appear to be a 55-57. Cant figure out stamping next to distributor. Any help much appreciated! Attachment 1747625 Attachment 1747626 Attachment 1747627 |

Take a look at this, mine has the same casting number, the same F, then 808, then the same H

Thanks for response. So that post is saying this motor was drilled for Hyd lifters?
It has solis in it now? A little confused, sorry... By the way, your engine is very nice. Not to many 235in these when modified. My truck gets many looks and thumbs up with the 235 in there. |

From what ive read along the way, 58's and newer were drilled for hydraulic lifters, there is a lot of confusion, the way that link talks you need a Y on the end of the serial number to make it a power glide motor with juice lifters

The solids may have been put in it during a rebuild some time during it's life. Not necessarily because of a performance redo either. It may have been a few bucks cheaper to put solids in or the guy who owned the truck or was doing the work preferred solids.
It sounds like a good one to build though. |
