Done some painting the last few days
 

I painted the fire wall and the inside of the cab. The outside will be #507 blue and the inside was 4537AD blue supposed to be factory Color on the inside. But looks to blue than what was there. But I don't think I am going to redo the inside now. What do you all think.

I like the 2 tone; darker interior always seems cozy to me.

so your truck has a different shade of blue inside from the outside?? Never heard of that. Always thought there was only one paint code that described the overall color combo (white over blue, Dark olive over med olive, etc). I always thought 507 was solid light blue and 537 was white over light blue - but never heard of them as separate inside/outside colors.

Very interesting. What's the interior trim/seat color plan?

Looks like a super job on the paint, very nicely done! Can't wait to see the final result.

First off your paint looks great!
But... being the numbers person I am I'd like to sort out your color number questions.

If you are seeing this 4537AD on the SPID or build sheet the 537 is all you need to worry about.

The number 507 corresponds to a solid light blue exterior.
The number 537 corresponds to a light blue (507) two-tone exterior.
The interior colors, all three, are keyed to the exterior color and trim choice. In your case a 507/537 truck would have Ditzer #13391 as the primary interior color. With argent and dark blue finishing out the interior.

If I may, what code & brand of paint did you use and by what reference?

Thanks for the reply, yes my truck has the light blue body with the white top and dark blue interior.And I guess I will repaint the inside because it is not a dark enough blue to match the dash pad and seat.

What color number did you paint the interior? The Ditzer # is a medium blue poly (metalic) and should be lighter than the vinyl trim. Trying to locate a picture I can trust but.... Is there any of the original color up behind the cluster or glove box openings behind the tape?

Here is a picture of a "restored" '67. Its white outside but with the blue trim the paint should be the same. Just don't trust the source, but it is a starting point.

Well the glovebox on the inside is a factory silver. But I can match it with something. But i will be repainting. I have a question. On what gun does anybody use to paint the inside of the roof. I cant get a good enough angle with my HLPV gun. Any suggestions on a different gun.

My suggestion for painting the inside of the roof is to lay the cab on it's back and spray the roof then mask it up when dry and stand the cab back up to do the rest. If you have an expensive gun and pps cups that spray through a vacuum then you can do it all at once but is a pain in the a$$.

SS TIM I did not know what number to give them for the interior so I just thought I pick one that was close and now i don't like it. And blacksheep I really don't have a safe way to lay it on its side or that would work.

The silver glovebox door is correct and here is a SPID of a very similar truck showing the original silver argent.

The Ditzler numbers above are the correct colors and a good auto paint supplier should be able to hook you up "as built".

As far as painting the inner roof, if you can get your hands on an old siphon feed gun that will work better than a gravity feed gun for painting upside down. Harbor Freight has cheap throw away guns that will do the trick if you can't find a Devilbiss JGA or Binks 7. If you do go this route make sure to clock the siphon tube so it is at the lowest point and keep the cup full.

You are the man Tim!! I have trying to figure this out as well.

My truck is a 1967 light blue/white top code 4537AD with BLUE VINYL TRIM on the spid and I noticed a different color blue hiding in the interior behind the wrong repaint. The interior paint looks to be a satin or semi gloss is this correct of the Ditzer #13391? here are a few pics, the seat is quite faded.

I can try opening the door and using the wifes dslr camera if you guys want a more true color, my point and shoot is ehhh well a point and shoot. I am on baby duty at the moment though as you can tell.;)

That is the sort of pictures I'm looking for. It shows to good effect the medium blue color and the metalic effect expected of a "poly". This should be a match for the Ditzler 13391 color as the primary interior color with blue trim. As to the level of sheen (% of flatening) I am not quailifed and don't have access to the formulas. But if your paint store is open you should be able to get someone to break it down for you. Seriously, they sell the PPG Ditzer lines and its their color chart I have been using. Now something real important at this point is to make sure the new color is compatable. To that end you might need to have your brand matched to the formula and it might take more than the kid at the counter to do it correctly. Again TCP might be able to give a cross formula for your local shop or ship you the correct mix.

Natural daylight pictures are always the best. Often if I need to have a good archive picture I will shoot it with a common color reference like a soda can so anyone can match up the tone/shade really closely. So, yes some natural DSLR pictures would be great to have but you have illistrated the point with these pictures well.
Is the dark blue on the top of the dash still present? Might not be more than a line that was covered by the factory pad left though due to the reshoot.

looks closer to 506 then 507 on the above PPG color chart. it looks to be the same color as my '66 Econo that I know is the med blue poly PPG # 506

Ok I repainted the inside with the 506 blue and now it looks better with the 507 blue on the outside. Of course the camera lice seems to give a different shade at different shots.

Glad you found a color you like. The 507/506 combo will make a nice stock looking truck.

Sorry I completely missed this Tim. I will check it out tomorrow on the top of the dash and try to get some good high quality pics with a little sunlight and a real camera.
