novice question about patch panel

I am taking the plunge and trying to remove the rust from my floor. Here is my problem. I am working on the passenger front of the floor and inner rocker. I have the rust cut out and the patch panel trimmed to fit the opening BUT if i line up the bolt holes in the patch with the cab support it lifts it off of the support. I can pull the original floor up to the patch and get it all flush but I wonder if i should go ahead and weld it or should i let it sit down on the support and redrill the bolt holes to line up after the fact? Thanks in advance

Yes PICS PLEASE! But without them all I can say is reproduction parts aren't perfect, having to change them somewhat to fit is perfectly normal.

But post photos before you do it.

ok here are pics as requested. the one with the huge gap is with the all four bolt holes lined up with it like this it is about a 1/8 inch above the front support, and the other is down on the front cab support.

Move the holes in the patch. Mine were like that too. Better to have the body lines match than to have holes that will be covered up be lined up correctly. Do not move original components if possible. That'll cause lots of headaches down the road.
