Sharing a fuel tank idea

Talked to a guy on another site and he sent me these pics so I thought I'd share. He sold the truck but it was a 53 3100 and he used a 70s Chevy truck tank.

Looks good, not sure how far it hangs down but from what other ideas I've seen I guess not more than some.

He modified the c10 brackets and made it all bolt on.

nice tip, I like saddle tanks inside the frame over tanks at the rear, not for safety but because most times a rear tank has a filler through the bed floor and thats got to be inconvenient getting to it with anything in the bed or dripping fuel all over the bed floor.

Yea, personally I'd like to stick the spare in the back but I'm still playing with fuel tank ideas. Since I still have what's left of my c10 donor I might mock this up and see what I think.

Here's a link to something similar. Yes, it's a Ford but looks like same general idea.

Hard to see from the pics - is the fuel tank in the middle of the chassis? Is there enough room on the left and the right for exhaust system?

Thanks.

Exhaust would have to run on one side. Here's another pic you can kinda see the driveshaft.

Quote:

"It fits nicely. Dip in tank fits under the emergency brake bar perfectly. totally invisible, especially with the running boards in place. I sold it a couple months ago. Brackets are 3/8" plate but as the photos show, I made them really wide and bolted in several places, gussets where necessary. They are heavier and stronger than the factory brackets."

The Ford link is similar, had to run exhaust on one side.
