Looks like a very cool project, man. Will you be using Frankie on the trip and if so when will you be in omaha?

VERY!, but Biz is all about checking off states visited, so this should take care of quite a few.

Part of the fun challenge is that it's not a Bel Air that you can get any remanufactured or reproduction part you need. Buick parts are tough to come by and 57s are particularly unavailable as far as reproductions. Zero sheet metal is available - ZERO!

So trying to bring one back from this condition will be tough, but rewarding and unique in the end.

I will not be in Frankie on such a long trip, bringing the wife's 2011 Yukon that was a salvage rebuild I completed over the summer. If something goes wrong with that, any dealer will be willing to fix it without having to explain too much.

I haven't found any sites I like better than this one, so I think I'm investing all in here only, even though it doesn't really belong. Y'all are just so much more into it and also don't throw stones when I go changing it up from stock.

;)

Drew, what an awesome build, especially with your daughter! I have always loved these old Buicks. I fixed one up in high school that was neon green. Sold it to buy tools for college.... If you have any time or need any assistance when you're coming through Iowa, keep me in mind. I'll help ya out where I can. I hope you and your family have a great road trip and a Merry Christmas as well!

It's not called "Alternate Tinkerings" for nothing, LOL. This build definitely belongs right here.

There's some doors, trunk lids, and hood for a 57 Buick listed in the Atlanta CL but the parts are in Alabama. Might be something there that you can use.

Hello all! It's Biz here. We are currently 5 hours into this long trip and have just passed through St. Louis. Attachment 1338371
I just taught my dad how to attach pictures within the text... I'm surprised he didn't already know.
We've been watching movies on the laptop and the movies were Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day and Blazing Saddles. I'll leave it up to y'all to guess who picked what.
Our first gas fill up was $1.93! Crazy I tell you, crazy.
Well, that's all for now. We'll check back in later. :mm:

X2 on all that. I posted some of my build on the Buick board and when I said an LS was going in, out came the torches and pitchforks.

Biz, you got great taste in cars!

Shucks!, I was hoping to get a chance to see the Frankie in person! Have a safe trip and a wonderful Christmas!

I think a buick supercharged 3.8 would be so cool in that car. Totally different, unexpected....besides they can make some pretty crazy horsepower.

Cool build, can't wait to see more.
