What are the symptoms of a Torque converter going bad?

Not on my truck, but on one of my cars I had noticed a sound that almost sounded like a rod knock, but it seemed to be coming from the trans. The car would go into gear and drive, but it had that knocking sound. Today, I was working on the engine and got it running well, but when I went to drive it, nothing. No forward, no reverse, no knocking. Any suggestions? thanks

Check your fluid and your filter.

Was it changed lately?I just finished working on a tranny this weekend and we had to put a new torque converter on it to get it to run(they make 2 different splines for the 700r4 by the way),now that we have a new one in it shifts better then it ever did.

The Knocking could be a cracked flex plate, very common

the first indication that a torque converter is goin bad is:

Unbolt The Converter From The Flywheel And Pry It Back Away From The Motor Start It Up If The Knocking Stops It Is The Converter. Dont Let It Run Long Because The Crank Can Rub A Hole In Converter Snout

I guess the first step would be to check the trans fluid....Doh!!! All is good now
