Gas prices today!!!

I left Myrtle Beach SC today headed back to Liberty SC. 5 hr drive and this is what I noticed. Gas in Myrtle beach was $2.05 as I drove further west it went up to $2.19. As I came into Greenville county it dropped to $1.96!!!

As I got closer to home it back to $2.09 again. I filled up for $2.09!!!!

I should have stopped at the $1.96 station but I had about 1/2 tank still.

So what's it selling for in your neck of the woods today?
:chevy:

In the last week and half ours on average has dropped from 2.15 to 2.03 today. With all the unrest on the other side of the world I don't know what is leading to this sudden price reduction.

Last time I was in Wichita it was $2.08. Here in Podunk, USA it is $2.11 Makes a bit of extra $$ left after a fill up for sure. Being retired I don't drive the 75 mile daily round trip I used to when working.

Of course you do. What is happening in Iowa today? I expect someone will take full credit for it tomorrow night on all the TV networks.

Well you are right. Elections coming up. I do appreciate the drop but this much this fast disturbs me. I'm afraid it will swing back upward and go way the other way too.

Hey Rene. $3.05 for the cheaps? I guess that is a good bit less for ya'll though too isn't it?

You know it will! It's not a coincidence, and you know they're not going to let all that profit just go out the window. They'll "tax" you on the back-side for the discount you're seeing now (and add a little extra on for good measure).

I passed my three usual stations on the way into work. $2.31, $2.28, and $2.59. I can't get under $2.20 without driving 3-5 miles out, or until my Kroger card racks up enough for a 10¢/gal discount.

neighbor works for chevron refineries across town, harbor is full of them yet local chevron station is $3.50 - $3.80

still six more years to retire but already working on the farm getting some things ready..

got this 3000 gallon dilapidated mess removed and replaced with 1000 gallons on a slab..

much easier for my mom, she had to stand on those blocks to reach anything.. and a lot less maintenance..

bulk is definitely the way to go, especially in a free state!

Cool! Do you have to do anything special to preserve it? That looks like it would take me well over a year to burn through. I only burn 40-50gal/month in my daily.

sorry to put a kink in the thread but this is less depressing than high fuel costs

oddly enough, not really anything needed for what mom and her help burns plus when I'm there :D

I know we fight algae here in socal because of low sulfur but when I setup the fuel pickup from the oil company [that's Jake there between the new barrels, my folks been buying from their family oil company for over 50 years] he said they don't have much issue there and after they checked the fuel they picked up, offered full credit for it to refill the new tanks later.. I asked about stabilizer or any other additives for the gasoline and he said they sell a few different products to those that insist but really doesn't recommend anything.. all my years never had or heard of any issue with fuel quality out there so guess he's right :)

as for fuel consumption, we have several fuel burners of both varieties to keep 500gal ea turned over frequently enough.. and the new tanks have gauges on them so easy for her to read and call for delivery..

amazingly only cost about $4k for the entire project and only down for about a week! they picked up just slightly more fuel than they delivered but given the fact the quality was acceptable to take it in the first place was a blessing.. they took the old barrels, the 1000gal were bought in the early 80s and the 500gal were mid 60s I believe.. they swapped the electrical over and hooked everything up like they were. new tanks are coated UL and he replaced the meter heads, hoses, and filters.. saved the pumps he said were good models and expensive to replace.. Jake and Ed are neighbors and great local business men that take care of folks in their community..

here's Ed the concrete contractor..

I don't believe these prices everyone is giving. In Maryland all fuel prices end with a stupid .9

I think our prices are the same, around $2.49.9

With ethanol I wondered if people still bought bulk, unless they went through the tank fairly quickly. Same with today's diesel
