I assume you like? some on here don't, think they belong on a newer truck but I like them because you don't see many of them with it

Yes I do like them. They are a nice touch. Thanks for the info on where to get them.

While I realize this is a pretty old thread, THIS is a truck I would absolutely love to see. Even more than the truck itself, would love to see the SPID.

Sounds very much like the truck had the roof and rockers overpainted at some point. May have been done by the dealer for a cstomer or as a local show truck for an event. While possible it was a special paint order truck it was probably done some point after leaving the production line.

Yeah, since in '67 lower accent color wasn't offered, only top above drip rail.

I like both colors on your truck. What color is that interior called? It is the original color of my truck but my glove box information isn't there for me to get the code.

Still waiting for my favorite color. It falls in the special order group.
Dark Olive with a red top and a Vodka stripe.
Seriously though this has been a great thread. I'm surprised how many of the trucks I remember as a kid are listed here as stock colors. I graduated in 80 and don't remember seeing them on the lot new, but there were lots of them around town. Golds, browns, blues, reds, and at least one purple one. Funny I don't seem to remember any green ones. We owned an all white 71 3/4 ton 4x4 with the 292, 4 speed and service boxes.

1970 Chevrolet was this factory purple. Unfortunately, the exterior has a terrible repaint but, I will be restoring it back to stock. Apparently, this color was only found in Saskatchewan.

This is my uncles truck. He ordered it when he was service manager at Don Crow Chevrolet. The dealership ordered a handful of special order trucks painted in Cadillac colors and called them "El Cuervo", spanish for the crow. The glovebox decal says Spec. Paint. Despite having almost every scrap of paper and detailed service records on this truck, the original window sticker could not be located. We are trying to figure out how to document the paint color on this original owner truck other then my uncles say so. It appears to be 1969 Cadillac rosewood and pueblo beige from the extra cost "Firemist" paint line.

:chevy:

Hope I'm not skipping 5 pages of responses, but I saw these purple trucks, every one a big block, in Saskatchewan only. I bought a Pontiac 2+2 from a guy with a 396 purple C10 that he later, unfortunately, drove drunk and killed someone with. At least he did time over it...

I've heard various theories as to why, like a fleet order that fell through, but don't know why Sask has them exclusively.

I know. The seats were reupholstered when they repainted the truck in the early 90's. I said the truck was still owned by the original owner, not that it was all original. This truck has well over 250,000 miles on it. A few things have been replaced already my the way.
Here's a pic of it working on his farm a long time ago.

I parted out a 69 swb CST that was this color maroon. It was a loaded truck new, but not taken care of at all. It was so rusty that when I hauled the cab to the scrap yard, the outer roof skin peeled back and was flopping in the wind!

I noticed that too....looks like the box comes close to matching the front fenders so the drivers door (and cab) might have had some work and repaint done on it.
....that's my take

Joshua

That dark olive truck brings back memories. I was born in 71 and my dad had a new 72 c10 lwb he bought new. It was dark olive, but with a white top. It was pretty well a "stripper". Not a deluxe, and had no side trim at all, but it had a 307 v8 and auto trans, as well as PS and PB. No AC though. He traded it around 77 or 78 for a 76 Silverado C10 lwb with a 454/ 400 and ac to pull his bass boat, which it would do, but drank gas like nobodie's business. (He said twice as much as the 307!)

Re: Rarest Paint Color?

What about black trucks? my brother owns the solid black 72 Cheyenne c10 lwb my uncle bought new. it has a 400/400, ps, pb, ac, tilt wheel and side tool box from the factor. He added a tach cluster I bought him for his birthday one year. Prior to owning this truck, (late 80's he had a 72 swb stepside that was black with a white top. It still had the original style full wheel covers and bias ply tires (mud grips on back) when he bought it. Originally a 6 cyl/ 3ott truck, we swapped it for a 355/ 200 4r and repainted it solid black and added a set of 15" enkei wheels with 275 60/15 BFG TA's all around. Sorry, but no photos of either. He has them.

Re: Rarest Paint Color?

The reason the doors look lighter is because the white was painted first and the doors got oversprayed. The rest of the sheetmetal was still a dark primer color. Then the body color was shot. So the primary paint color looks lighter where it was painted over the white. If you look at most dark colored trucks with a white roof you will see this. My green K/20 is exactly the same
