54 Firewall Mounted Brake Pedal?

Mocking up my 54 project. My plan is (was?) to use the stock clutch pedal/pivot assy and get a CCP firewall mounted M/C pedal/Booster. I didn't want to go with a frame mounted M/C since my newly built tranny Xmember will interfere with the booster. It's 4wd so the crossmember supporting the t/case adapter is right where the booster wants to go.

My questions are these; CCP firewall boosters only fit 47-53. Can someone tell me the difference? Has anybody used/modified the 47-53 ccp firewall assay on their 54?

I thought i had a great plan until I went to buy the CCp assay and realized it don't fit 54's. Looking for some solution. Thanks, Rick

I don't know why it wouldn't fit a 54 as the cabs are the same except the top of the cowl and windshield area.

Best thing is to call CPP and ask.

I can't imagine why it would be different Mr48. As you stated, cabs are the same.

In one of their catalog descriptions it specifically says "Does not fit 54 or 55.1"

It could simply be an error. I had found an error in there listing for an engine crossmember. It states their engine crossmember CP4810 is for 55-59 in one ad and 47-59 in another.

I'll do as you suggest and call them tomorrow. It would make things a lot easier for me if it does work on a 54.

Thanks for your reply. I know you've got a lot of experience with these trucks and value your opinion. My first go around with anything this old and mine is a bit of a custom since it's to be 4wd with stock frame. Rick

Sorry to revive an old thread, but was an answer found if you could use CPP Part number 4753FBB4 on a '54 or "55.1 cab?

I had read somewhere that there is a dash brace that prevents the installation of this part, but have been unable to confirm.

Thank you.

Hi Sando
I'm here to tell you that it doesn't fit. I'm going to use it anyway by modifying it. Fits the firewall fine but does not mate up to the dash. Mine is GMC so maybe a Chevy is different I don't know. Rick

Further research shows that this is the part that works with the 54 & 55.1 trucks.

That is false advertising. I bought that and it's just a universal part. Not even close. Check out my build thread I modified a 47-53 and it worked out fine.

What modifications were required for the 47-53 version to work on a 54-55.1? Any pictures?

Thanks FlySoCal. I checked your build thread. Looks like I 'll copy you mods on the bracket. Nice looking truck you're building. Thanks for the pics it will make my job a lot easier when I get back to it.
Sando, check his build thread. The booster mods are a few pages in.

FWIW I just reused the power brake setup on my 54 from the donor 84 k10 Brake petal and all. I also reused the gas petal and linkage among other things
