Well its been a year of driving and having fun after the ls swap,; but now its time for more power !
Started as a frame off build last year. 64, 000mi 2003 4l60 and 5.3 with a brian tooley 216/220-568 @110 cam with springs and push rods, 1 5/8 doug thorley headers, 9" ford posi 4.11 And all gaskets and seals of course ! Which i am now going to sell the headers,4l60e , custom intake and blazer intank fuel pump assy, If anyones Iinterested !!!
Now I am going with billet internals, log style manifolds, twin intercooled on3 70/68 t4 turbos, 4l80e . If anyone cares to follow the build, I will post some pics.

Re: 68 5.3 ls twin turbo build

How much are u asking for headers

Should be a fun drive with boost

Re: 68 5.3 ls twin turbo build

Headers $450 perfect condition, original box, and all paperwork!

Got any idle clips?? That thing must sound like a Harley with that cam!

Re: 68 5.3 ls twin turbo build

I don't. It sounds pretty good ,but not as lopey as you would think due to the short duration.

Re: 68 5.3 ls twin turbo build

You could probably build the 60 to take the power of the turbos.

You probably could but not for the price you could do it with an 80 for. Even then I would still consider the 60 to be on borrowed time. Outside of the size difference I don't think there really is a down side to an 80.

Re: 68 5.3 ls twin turbo build

I agree, I don't believe the 60 would last very long, aand will make someone a really nice transmission with only sixty four thousand miles on it. I just want the added possible insurance with the 80.
I sent an email to this site to possibly move this thread over to the LSX swap section, with no reply ! ? Any Iinput on this ?

Re: 68 5.3 ls twin turbo build

So why not just flip the headers and point them upwards then make new flanges that have your wastegates mounted right to them. Log manifolds are for boats and foreign cars with no room. You will hurt your performance doing that unless of course you plan to run low boost like 5psi.

Some update pics. Decided to run headers instead of logs after all.
So the turbos are mocked up, and the intercooler also. Slowly but surely making progress !

Re: 68 5.3 ls twin turbo build

Nothing wrong with slow progress, there is no time limit on building a hot rod.

Looking good! I have the same headers to use on my build.

Re: 68 5.3 ls twin turbo build

Looks good. Following along.

Might as well do an 80E right away. A stock or even "built" 4L60E is no match for a turbo LS on sticky tires in a heavy truck.

I know this for fact. lol.

I have an 80 E, just need to find the time and money to build it! Thanks for the interest in my build !

The only person worth actually believing on that show is Lutz (which is why he doesn't say much). Legit 6 second car.
Can't call a show Street Outlaws when you pull the car off a trailer to run. Cops aren't that stupid.

The turbo 5.3 is cool tho.
