AC hose insulation wrap

I plan to remove some old, very old duct tape that the PO wrapped around the AC hoses/tubes (see pic). It looks like part of the tubing was painted black and about two inches were actually taped where it goes into the plastic housing. I bought some of the black, sticky type insulation wrap to cover the tubing but I'm not sure how much of the tubing that I should insulate using the black wrap. Can anyone help? Maybe send a pic that will show what it should like like?

About 1” more than the duct tape in your pic. It’s just there to cover and insulate the sensing bulb from your expansion valve.

Thanks clay68c10, exactly what I was looking for. Is there any special paint I need to use to paint the tubing since its all flaked/chipped off already?

Usually the lines are not painted just natural.
