700r4 Torque Converter recomendations

Ok, I'm narrowing down the parts list.

700r4 going in 72 K2500 with 4.10 gears and 255/85/16 tires.
373HP Blueprint 350. Blueprint recommends 1800-2200 stall

I see lots of options out there but would like to take the guess work out of the decision. Leaning on those with much more experience than me. My thought is to keep it in the 1800-2000 range

Which Brand would be the better quality? Advise on the stall range?

Thanks

I would stay with around 1800 - 2000 stall. I put a 2004R in my C20 with 4.10 gears and have a stock converter (probably around 1500 to 1800) works fine. If your drag racing a higher stall would be good. If Blueprint recommends the 18 to 2000 stay with it. Higher stall speeds also increase heat. BTW go lockup, it's worth it.

I have an FTI in my 700r4. It's nice and had no issues with it.

With that size cam I would lean toward the 2200 rpm range.

A stockish 1800rpm stall is going to pull at a stop light.

2200 to 2500 stall speed. I have used several different companies in the pass, like Yank Performance, TCI, Hughes, B&M, and others. I have a company build TC's for me nowadays.

For a 2200 to 2500 stall TC you can pay 250 bucks with the TCC thru TRANSTAR Industries I believes its a 10 inch TC. Its a great deal plus a good product, I have used them in budget minded customers who dont pay for the over priced Yank, and other TC companies.

Good Luck !

In a 72 3/4ton 4wd? You'll hate the larger stall. I put a 2200rpm in my old 79 with a 200-4R. It annoyed the hell out of me. Stock TC was so much nicer for daily driving. Then again all automatics annoy the hell out of me. That truck was a one time mistake using one.

Can you elaborate a bit more please? 2200 stall doesn't seem too crazy at all to me.

What was it that annoyed you about it in daily driving. I'm not trying to be an @ss here, I'm seriously curious to understand this.

I watched a guy in a car once while he was doing some parking maneuvers at a car show. This thing must have had a huge stall because he had to rev it up pretty good to get it to move. It seemed to me reverse was an even bigger problem for him than going forward?

EDIT: the car doing the maneuvering had an automatic transmission!
Thanks,

-klb

You may want to look up how stall speed is achieved. If it’s a 2500 stall doesn’t mean you have to rev the motor up to 2500 before the trans engages.
Maybe the dude you are talking about had a manual trans. Just wondering
