Cool truck.

Like the 4-Wheel chains.

I could use that around here.

I'm still on a Tractor, lol.

(With a 2-53, coincidentally)

Here's a video about the 1959 John Deere Industrial line they don't show the whole video but they do talk a little bit about the General Motors "Jimmy Diesel Engine" that will be adapted to all John Deere 440 Diesel Industrial Tractors enjoy. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bSCMiZCYNKo

Re: Jimmy/Detroit Diesel Videos

I love the 2-stroke Detroits. But something about those little 2-bangers makes me really want one of those the most, like I really have to have one!!

My neighbor (Billy) with the saw mill lets a friend (Fast Eddie) keep his trucks there on a lot by the road. He runs a dump truck and puts old stuff together out of hand me downs (junk) there. Right now there is a Diamond Reo flatbed w/knuckle boom and dual stacks. I'd wager that's a Detroit sitting there. I'll need to get in touch over that. Right now he runs an International and before that Autocar. He's building up a bit of a truck junk yard

Have we seen this one yet? An old Kenworth powered by 8v71 pulling a crusher?

Tim, I saw that one night but didn't post it. Sure sounds great, but was disappointed to see that it needed a "pusher". That is a lot of weight though, lol.

Re: Jimmy/Detroit Diesel Videos

prob the grade up the road out of the pit was to much to overcome or leave him no real safety margin .

Thats a great video, even more so since I work at the JD Dubuque Works where the 435 and 440's were built.

I've got a '59 435. I wasn't sure that the same plant was still in operation.

Dubuque Works has been running since 1947- we are the Engineering center for the Worldwide Construction and Forestry Division ( formerly Industrial as seen in the video). Design engineering and test facilities are in Dubuque and we manufacture Backhoes, Crawlers, Skid Steers, Tracked Fellerbunchers and Knuckleboom Loaders. As well as cabs for Backhoes, Crawlers, Graders, ADT's, etc. The Dubuque foundry and engine line are no longer around though. We also have a plant in Davenport where Loaders, ADT's, Graders, Skidders and Wheeled Fellerbunchers are made and a few other C&F factories around the US and rest of the world now too.
If you're not already I'd encourage you to join the Two-Cylinder Club- tons of info and services for your 435 and all John Deere tractors. www.two-cylinder.com

Great update on the Dubuque plant.

Appreciate the link on the Two-Cylinder site. I'm familiar with the Magazine and I'm an old member of Johnny Popper, but it sure kind of fizzled. I also go to YT Mag now and then, but the Two-Cylinder site looks great.

Thanks again.

Re: Jimmy/Detroit Diesel Videos

I think Sweet 30 is right, the aide was for lack of traction on that steep grade. We know that Jimmy had the power to pull on it's own! I love it where you can see the smoke shooting straight up out of the pipes. Ain't no black. That mill is burning all that fuel!! I was also a bit disappointed to see the loader pushing, but that was like a truck pull with the weight on the sled fully forward, power vs traction. Traction kills the pull.

Not bad for a 2-53 (although I believe it's been reworked some):
