OK, so after a morning of fishing with the kids (their first time) I decided to learn a little more about our dash bezels. I have to restore my tach dash (making it a vac/tach) so I figured that I would start on a basic cluster that I happen to have.

The bezel had a decent crack in it so I found another lying around with a choke hole and cleaned it, painted it Silver ALuminum.

Cleaned up the back tin with steel wool and painted to back of the gauges as well.

Just noticed that I didn't take as many pics as I thought...

SHot the front tin with Satin Black and the insides with Satin Jade (near perfect match)

Used a fluorecent paint on the needles after masking them off with a template that I found on the board. (BE SURE TO MASK EVERYTHING>>> OVERSPRAY SUCKS!)

Set the odometer back to zero and put it all back together.

Printed circuit was in good shape so I cleaned it off and reinstalled.

Didn't get a chance to put in new bulbs yet... but I did try to polish the lens with some Never-Dull (didn't work that well, too oily)

Easy way to make a $20 dash worth...oh maybe $25?

Few cans of paint and about 1.5 hours and you can spruce up that old crappy dash.....Even the wife thought it looked better, and she could care less ya know...

Now on to my dash....

Look good. Its nice to see someone else using that Satin Jade. I've been using it for years and it is almost a perfect match.

Thanks, I got the satin jade tip off of this board... could have been a post of yours, not sure. I have heard of others doing silver inside to brighten it up at night. anyone try that?

It may have been. I posted this a long time ago.

I have never tried the silver, but Palf70Step said he had on the thread.

I think the silver looks good, they also have a stainless steel color paint that might look nice.

Thanks... that speedo reset is a little tricky though. There's a plastic keeper inside it that explodes if you breath on it. Had to make a new one...

It's on .2 miles casue I hooked the drill up to insure that it was working... By the way, my drill goes about 55 or 60mph!
