'79 Gmc Sierra

Thanks for letting me join!! I have a '79 Gmc that had been sitting 15 years Upon having it towed it home on a car dolly by a friend, one of the rear wheels came off going down the highway,TWICE!! When i started driving it i realized the rear axle isn't straight. The distance from the rear shackle to the front of the axle plate on top of the leaf springs are 3/4" different per side. Can anyone tell me how or where exactly to measure from or to? And what the measurement should be?
