It's a great color that is very traditional on trucks, used since the beginning and still used. Since the early-mid '80s it's only available as a fleet color.I got GMC to let me order my '92 in that color. It makes trucks look great, people really like it,yet you don't see many these days. So,you won't have what everyone else has. I have a huge amount of pictures and only found a few in 4wd. The deluxe 2-tone belongs to See Ten and the other is more what you had in mind:

Non-metalic Dark Green is a classic look. A white top is even better.

Re: 505 Green
Been thinking of maybe painting my roof white.

This is "White/DK GREEN/White" on the SPID. It says 148510 for a code, so not sure if that's Chevy 505 or not (this is a GMC). My Dad's original one was this color and hence it's one of my favorites...

Re: 505 Green
Both my 55 1st series 5 window and 55 2nd series big window were this color... You can still see it in places even after they have been thru all the layers of paint and primer!
I plan to paint them both back to this color....one day... |

FYI,that Suburban is Dark Olive Poly. That Sierra Grande has the Dark Green, also called Woodland Green. They used a different code for two tones/same color. My '71 Blazer was Woodland Green (w/white top!):

Re: 505 Green
It's interesting that this would come up now. My dad bought a brand new 1959 Apache 10 in 505 green. I was thinking about that truck this afternoon. I was 7 years old, and I always loved that truck.
I remember pretty much what happened to all the cars in my life, but I cannot remember what he did with that truck. |
Re: 505 Green
One of my favorite colors for our trucks and not just because one of my old trucks is in this thread =)

Re: 505 Green
Have any of you guys had luck with finding a replacement dash pad that matches the 505 color code of your truck? I contacted Brothers about a new dash pad and someone there told me the color code of their pad was M24 green. I haven't tried any other vendors at all, yet, but I'm trying to keep everything looking as stock as possible where I can. I guess I could drop a black pad in there, but 505 green is what the truck originally came with.

Here's my 505 dark green '68. The bedsides have been repainted, but everything else is original 505.

Here's 505, just got it a couple weeks ago. Have more pictures of it posted in other threads I've started...
As soon as the garage is done getting the gas tank cleaned out, and a fresh tune-up I'll spend some time cleaning her up! Mike |

Mike, I was thinking that '68 shown earlier in this thread is identical to yours. I swear it could be the same truck...that much alike. I guess that's because both are factory stock.
Let me fowl this thread up to show even a new truck could be this color today, in a fleet order. Back in '92 GMC allowed me to order my truck in this fleet color as long as I was was willing to wait for a minimum order of five trucks in that color. Overall, it took 6 months to get my truck, but the paint only held it up 6 weeks. They still call it Woodland Green |

Thanks, I've yet to polish it, older resto. It's why I love single stage paint.

Check these out, I just acquired a 9 ft stepside box trailer to build a 1971 K30 with and its going to be woodland green and white. I want it to look like it just drove off the lot when it was new.

Thank you! I just reading through the entire thread, WOW! There are some amazing trucks on this site! I'm amazed there are this many still around, and looking so good! Ok, so I gotta ask.... 455HO, do you have one? 71 Pontiac GTO, or G-37? I've got a soft spot for Pontiacs, though my 98 Camaro SS is keeping a smile on my face for the time being. Although when my Truck is looking and running as I'd like, the Camaro may have to depart for an old Firebird Formula 70-72... Thanks again for the thread - very cool Trucks! Mike |
