What's involved in upgrading to HD factory front discs on '96 3500 dually?
 

That's pretty much it in the headline!
I'd like to upgrade the front discs on my '96 3500 Crew. 454/5-speed, and I tow with it a fair amount.
Obviously I'll need to swap calipers, but will I also need to swap spindles, or donthe caliper brackets bolt on and the spindles are the same for both?
How about the master cylinder? Same for both of different?

Is your truck 2wd or 4wd?

You will need a dually spacer on the front(from88-10 4wd trucks or 01-10 2wd trucks)

My truck is a 2wd 3500 dually.
From the link you posted (THANKS!) it's a GMT400 platform. It looks like some things changed between the GMT400 and 800 platforms.
Guess I'll start hunting for a service manual to look at the differences, and start crawling through the junkyards.

There's no need to change the master cylinder either.

It's a 3500hd, pretty much a medium duty truck. 15,000 gvw and a solid front axle with leaf springs on the front. The only thing those trucks have in common with the smaller ones is the sheet metal and the engines and the transmissions. The frame and suspension are way different. It has giant disc brakes(front and rear) from the factory. I'm pretty sure the pads and calipers are the same front and rear.

As far as I know, the only way to upgrade the brakes on the front of an 88-98(00)8 lug truck is with a knuckle swap. I am not aware of any kits out there.

NBS half ton Master cylinder was a hell of an upgrade for my 99 SRW 8600gvw 3/4 ton.

I am going to assume you have a vacuum brake booster?

That upgrade is not possible if you have hydroboost.

The only purpose of that upgrade is to improve pedal feel. It will actually hurt braking.(smaller piston master cylinder=more PSI in hydraulic system)

Trucks with hydroboost have a great brake pedal feel from the factory.
