C30 onto C20 suspension swap.
I'm about to jump on this 72 C30 chassis I found. I want to swap out the suspension front and back and put it on my 63 C20. Is it as straightforward as I think?

Re: C30 onto C20 suspension swap.
The front will be just like swapping the suspension on a C10.....2 holes to drill and 2 holes to elongate. As for the rear, are you wanting to change to leaf springs or keep the trailing arms? If that rear differential is a Dana 70 as I mentioned in your other thread, it will not bolt up to the trailing arms. A '73+ 14 bolt will bolt up just barely. Some guys grind a little groove in the axle tubes to facilitate u-bolt installation.

If this is correct it's an HO72 and compatable with my 63. I'll keep my fingers crossed. lol

Re: C30 onto C20 suspension swap.
If it is a Eaton HO72, I would not bother with it. There is basically no aftermarket support for those and the highest gear ratio available in used form is 4.10's.
A Dana 60 or a 14 bolt is a far better choice. |
Re: C30 onto C20 suspension swap.
I did one from a c20 to a c10 on a 69.
