Anyone know anything about WWII airplane salvage yards/parts?

I would love to own a piece of a historical aircraft such as the outer skin of a B-25 or B-17 or even part of a Vietnam era military airplane. Probably out of my financial reach, but can anyone point me in the direction of where to find something like this? I'd love to have part of an old bomb casing or some sort of wall art.

Depends on how old. They have that show on Discovery where they made furniture out of vintage aircraft.

www.govliquidation.com has some stuff you're looking for.

Check the scrap yard listings in AZ and NM. Seems that's where most old aircraft go to die :(

i know some guys that could probably hook you up with something might not be off of a bomber or fighter but would be a ww2 aircraft like an L-5 if you know what that is.

The "Bone Yard" near Tucson AZ. Hundeds of acres of aircraft/parts from choppers to 747s. Went there a few times when I was in the Air force. Google Bone yard Arizona or Davis-Mothan. If you go, the Pima air museum is cool too.
Here's pics of both

Another one

That's the only one I really know about, Davis-Marthon AFB, in Tuscon. The Military aircraft junkyard. I got to tour it back in the 80's when a friend was stationed there. Pretty kool. If you are into aircraft, you'd be drulling worse than we do when we find one of ours in a regular yard. ;)

I would give some air museums a call too..since they do alot of restos maybe they can line you up with something. Finding the canopy off a FW-190 or something is going to be pretty tough, but with the amount of planes the US made during WW2 getting something from a Mustang or B17 shouldn't be too bad.

actually it doesnt matter what it is if it is a part to a mustang of a b17 it is going to be expensive, trust me we have a tail wheel and an engine for a mustang in our hangar and we also have an entire cockpit to an f86 sabre jet but that is besides the point. What kind of part are you looking for. If you are looking for something like a prop or a jug off of an engine let me know and i can probably help you out.

Have you tried ebay?

I've seen WWII German a/c stuff on there and it can get pricey!

My dad has a small chunk of a Ford tri motor skin that we helped restore and at the time i never thought to keep any of it but i could of had some skin from a P51 and a B25 that i did some restroration work on for kermit weeks he use to have his museum in so. miami and then he moved it to polk city near orlando.

If you ever want to take some vacation time and volunteer you can they are allways looking for free labor if you know anything about aircraft maintenance you'll get to do some cool stuff there.
