Yeah, and how bad they were, I'd say they had been rusted for years. I needed new u-bolts regardless of whether or not I was lifting the back up.

Finally got a replacement panel for my extra cab. Now I just need a fender well, then it can get prepped for a damn paintjob.

If you're talking about the trailer I jack-knifed last year, it got cut up for scrap after it happened. As for my truck, I have it how I like it.

As for the heated front springs, I don't like the fact they were heated to be dropped. It was like that when I got the truck last year. I'd much rather replace them with stock springs and drop it the right way. But guess what? I don't have money, and my truck isn't dangerous to drive as you apparently think. The only danger was rusted u-bolts, and I put new u-bolts in, so good day to you, and don't come back to my thread just to hate. I WILL report you.

Once I get a fender replacement and have the money, it's gonna start getting sanded down and prepped. I'm gonna have it repainted maroon, and probably go back with a Southern Comfort graphics kit if I can find one.

I'd see if you can find a pictue of one and take it to the paint shop, they might be able to paint something similar, maybe better. who knows? or if theres a graphics shop near you maybe they can make one? because I believe the last southern comfort decal kits waved bye bye long ago.

My dad's friend Dave is doing the paintjob. If I can't find a graphics kit to my likings, I'll have custom decals made for the body and tonneau cover that read Dub X. Lol, I've got a custom Dub X logo for that anyway

right on/ I'm thinking about getting a picture of one and modifying it, so it wont have any gradient in it. hoping to do stripes like yours but base be black and the stripes a metalic silver. but everytime i see a solid black truck i rethink it...

LOL! I was thinking about doing a solid black theme on my '88, but I decided not to. I'm just gonna do maroon on my '88 so it matches the interior.

Thanks, Scott. Nowhere near done, yet either. I've got a replacement patch for the driver's side extra cab, now I just need one for the driver's side rear fender. When I get the fender replacement, they'll both go on, and it'll get sanded down and prepped for a new paintjob. Also have some '68-'72 GMC 1500 emblems that I'm gonna put on my tonneau cover. I believe one is GMC 1500 Custom and the other is GMC 1500 V8. I'll have to double-check them. But I think they'll look cool on my cover lol.

89chevsj: If you're still curious about a 6-lug pattern of the wheels on my '92, they're made by Ultra. Just look up Ultra 86. They make 'em in 6-lug GM. I see them on Craigslist all the time.

Re: '92 GMC Southern Comfort Daily Driver

thank you so much, found them new at 56 bucks a piece. truck will hopefully see paint in the next year so I'll try to get them then. looking those up i found a set of ultra bullets, used to have them on one of my old trucks. found it a couple months ago in a junkyard completely distroyed 3 of the 4 wheels in good shape. didn't know they still made the wheels or I'd have grabbed them. dang it!

Re: '92 GMC Southern Comfort Daily Driver

and why'd you flip the ubolts? any reason of just cuz?

Dub_X 10-27-2011 08:58 AM

Re: '92 GMC Southern Comfort Daily Driver

Had no choice. Factory u-bolts are square-top. The ones I put back in are round-top. Plus I didn't wanna use the original pads, because they were caked with rust. So, I found 2 big ass pads I could use at the top, and put the new bolts in flipped.

God I've got too many engine ideas, but I think I've got one that I'm gonna stick with. One of my best friends talked me into saving up the money for a 6.2 376 LS3. Anyone seen these in '88-'98 body styles? Because I'm reallly thinking about saving up for it.
