71 Cummins Swap

2 Attachment(s)
After 3 years of running around with it, doing garbage and lumber runs, hauling kids bikes and other stuff I'm finally getting around to collecting everything I need to rebuild and make something fun out of it.

Current parts on hand are the swapped dually, my 71 and a full choppin block kit with accuair e-level. I'll start with a stripped, cleaned and painted chassis with the above upgrades over the winter and just wing it for what I want it to look like after that. I might finish the body or I might fix the few rust spots, clearcoat and call it a day or anywhere in-between.

If it was mine I would body swap it on the newer frame and just shorten it. That way you would have a heavier duty frame that and the cumming swap is already done.

Re: 71 Cummins Swap

Assuming you’re still gonna do the swap, if it was me I would find a used front suspension/crossmember from a square body dually and bolt it to your frame, keep in mind frame strength doesn’t matter too much on a 2wd being the front crossmember does a great job of tying it together. That way you also have the square body factory engine stands, now the reason for that is the angle is the same as the 1st gen cummins so all you have to do is drill some holes and use all the stock cummins/dodge engine mounts. Only issue is it’ll sit a little high for trans tunnel clearance but with mine I cut my engine side mounts and slid the engine down or you could just use square tubing to make engine side brackets.

I can post fitment pictures if you would like
