Re: 327 vs 350

Theres a lot more to it than the motor. My 59 has a 327 with the "magic" vette heads and my 78 has a stock 350 my 88 a 454. The 59 is fast enough from a dead stop that im afraid ill break somethimg. But i wouldnt haul with it. It all has to work together. Carb intake heads exhaust cam tranny rear end tire size. What do you use the truck for?

Wow okay. Wrong. Shorter stroke= faster reving higher reving and more hp. Longer stroke = more torq slower rev. And cannot rev as high. Ford came out with the302. When chevy losts sales they made the 327 as a filler motor it was made fast under thought out and sloppy. Then ford made the 351 and chevy responded with the improved 327 and called it a 327ho. High output. It was a flop. Chevy finally then made the 350 and did it right besides the heads. The heads r the same as a 327but have smaller valves. This is why people use a 350 with 327 heads. Get a 350 man. Thy r everywhere and easy to find parta for.

I have to ask a couple questions. First, what the heck are you smoking? Next, where the fawk did any of that come from? :thud:

Anyway, to the original question...it's been answered pretty well, for the most part. When it comes to a heavy street cruiser, build for low rpm torque and you'll be happy.

Ask the same question but use a 350 and a 383, or a 454 and 496.

Will 10 people say do the 350 or 454 because it revs quicker, or some other BS?

From a power point of view, the answer is bigger is better.
