Good afternoon everyone. My names Nick Burns, im from Conneaut Lake Pennsylvania .Im a 18 year old who attends college for industrial engineering and administration .I work at a Jeep specialty shop in Conneaut ohio,and my familys tool and die machine shop .Im going to try and keep on topic but I may throw in some pictures of my other projects. The story starts off in July 2019.
My dad(longtime 67-72 enthusiast) told me that a car lot down the road was closing and he was going to try and buy this c10. I go and retrieve it with him,it was truly love at first sight. His intention was to buy it , give it a little TLC then sell it . The next day I told him that I was interested in it and wanted it in the worst way. We worked out a deal of $1250 and he got to keep a set of keystone classics that came with the truck.Out of the original deal , I got a brand new set of doors and some other random stuff.
Now this truck is RAD! It has the potential to make a awesome around town crusier with a lot of the expensive and difficult stuff done . The key points: 400 small block, turbo 400,12 bolt with a posi and 4.11's(?) , and lastly a disk brake conversion . On to the pics

Now as you will soon realize, I like a mix of period correct looking parts and factory parts. That seat had to go!

About this time I knew the exhaust needed addressed. So i ordered summit brand headers to replace the old rotted out headers. This lead to hours and hours of frustration .Eventually I deemed I needed to build a new exhaust because this one was built so poorly.

Great ride. My 19yo son and I are working on a 69 C10 His is way worse than yours, we have redone all the wiring and new front brakes. It has been a lot of fun so far. I think this summer his plan is a new motor. Stock Chevy 350 for him, but I am sure he will want to dress it up.

Do you know where the seat you got rid of came from? Is it a stock seat from another truck? Did the holes line up on the cab floor for the seat bracket?

Hey my man , love to hear other kids my age getting involved in the hobby you dont see many anymore! Id love to see some pics!

So this was part of the story I haven't gotten to yet on the thread but long story short no. The PO used some of the factory holes and drilled holes in the floor the others. I think it was from something like a early 2000's tahoe but im not sure.

Now for the engine- somehow I struck out . This truck sat for what im assuming is 10 years. It wasnt getting any fuel when I tried to crank it.So ,I had a spare fuel pump on a stock 350 I had laying around so I threw it on. Believe it or not it started up, idled and revved with no breakups. Absolutely crazy to me . Threw on a new air filter and called it a day for now.But being the old school person I am, I wanted to keep my carb(still might) but I was worried about long trips. So my buddy I got the seat off of offered me a brand new fi tech efi system with the command center for $580 (over a grand new). And eventually my dads 69 gmc is going to have efi on it so I figured when in Rome....

Next up, I needed some appropriate wheels for the build.I ended up with a 6 hour round trip for these suckers. Worth it though, this truck has always just screamed to me that it needed slots.I also needed to move my trailer to go pick up a 73-87 parts truck, and it just so happened our shop truck wasn't there so c10 to the rescue!

Now at this point, I stripped that truck of all of its guts.All that was left of it was the frame,axles and a trashed body. But this younger kid wanted it and he had a 67-72 in his profile picture so I took a long shot to see if he had any parts. Luckily for me he had a Uncut dash:metal:
Now since I had that truck parted out I needed my next victim and this puppy popped up on marketplace. It was posted for a grand and I got it for $700.Listed as a 70 but the harder the look the more you realize how many different year parts were used. I needed a bunch of small stuff , and figured id still be able to make a heap of money off of it. So far ive harvested for myself the rear view mirror, 7 hole cluster,tach and a couple other small things. Originally I planned on using that bed as a temporary until I found a nicer one . That's correct, were going fleetside! Ive never been a step side fan. But I found a really nice bed I need to go door knock on to see if I can strike a deal .

I apologize for the pics being sideways but I cant figure out how to fix it.
Next up I tore the cluster apart and repainted everything ( I made sure to go back and clean off the contacts. I also tore the tach out of the parts truck , and temporarily wired it up as the whole truck needs rewired still. The suicide knob came off of a 70 scout that I parted out. Now the big reveal, I got the slots mounted up. They look so good! Im absolutely stoked!
