Anyone built or thought about building a "Fall Guy" truck?
I saw the an old trailer for the Fall guy show. And now I really want a 3/4 ton 4x4 81-87 square! Any one else want to build, or have built a fall guy replica? I know I shouldn't be so attracted to Hollywood cars, but that truck is pretty fine :metal: I don't have the kind of money to do such a build, but if I ever do, I'll make a build thread.

Well I'd love one but I certainly don't have the skills yet! I've always loved that truck. I heard the one used in the movie actually had a custom frame made to take the extra stress because they jumped it so many times. Beautiful truck.

Re: Anyone built or thought about building a "Fall Guy" truck?
I watched a video on youtube of it jumping, and sometimes the trucks they used were of the 73-80 round eye style. Also sometimes you can see all the trussing they used on the front axle.

There was a school that did a full blown Fall Guy rebuild. The thread is on this site somewhere and I think if you do a FB search you can find it they did a beautiful job on it.

Only hard part i see to copy is that brush guard winch mount on the front,The roll bar should be easy to find. And the lights kc lights still makes the old school lights like that.

They only used the word 73-80 trucks when the '80s trucks were too badly damaged to finish a scene which happened a lot, though I think the truck was supposed to be an '82, but used trucks were cheaper a the time of filming, so they woud try their best to mock up the trucks to look the same.

Re: Anyone built or thought about building a "Fall Guy" truck?
For those that might not know, you can watch all 22 episodes of season one of The Fall Guy on Hulu right now. The plot lines and acting remind me of why I never loved late 70's early 80's TV all that much, but it the vehicle spotting in each episode makes it worthwhile.

I too grew up in the eighties watching the Fall Guy and many others,Like Hardcastle and McCormick drove a silver and black GMC step side 4x4 with a trick paint scheme I believe. I wonder if the newer generations would even know who the Fall Guy is. I too would love to build a clone like it.

There's a guy just east of KC that built one, and it's gorgeous and dead nuts accurate.

Re: Anyone built or thought about building a "Fall Guy" truck?
I took a truck in on a trade years back. Ill dig around and see if I can find pics, truck was appeared to have been built in the 80s with a fall guy look. Even had a mural painted on the glove box of it jumping over a swamp. Only thing that was really far off was the two tone paint was opposite.
Ive often wondered why I've never seen any build threads about a fall guy truck with the recent popularity of the 73-87 chevs |
Re: Anyone built or thought about building a "Fall Guy" truck?
I'm pretty sure everyone has thought of doing one, I know I would love to!!

I'd rather have Rocky's truck than Colt Seaver's but I'll admit I watched and enjoyed both shows :)
Garner was a real driver ;) http://pics.imcdb.org/0is230/s2e04019.757.jpg |

The Vincennes University build that sold at BJ is worth a look. I watched them build that truck on FakeBook and it was a labor of love.
