1970 k/20 project

Hey guys, Im currently 15 and turn 16 in a few months. I have a 1970 chevy k/20 pickup that im fixing up untill i turn 16. Anyhow the story goes like this. A guy my dad worked with used this truck untill he bought a brand spankin new one in 2012. So then he pushed this truck into the woods. We offered him $800 bucks for it and he said yes. Then the day before we were going to go get it he backed out on us saying hes gonna get it running some day. So then two years went buy and the guy called my dad saying he needs the truck gone. So my dad asked how much he wanted for it and he said no money he wanted to trade for an 18' foot car trailer my dad had. So we did the deal. We brought it home September 14, 2014. So this september we would have the truck for 2 years. And now i decided i wanted to show your guys my progress over the last year and a half.
The truck has power steering, power brakes, 350 engine and turbo 400 trans

Then we we brought the truck home we took the bed off because it was beyond shot. Sitting in the woods didn't help that fact. Then after we took the bed off we stated replacing brake lines and doing body work. We did both cab corners, both rockers, and both floor pans.

So then after the cab was done we stared working on the frame and fixing that. Put all new cross members in. New shocks ans shock mounts and new e-brake cables. And then we painted the frame with paint call chasis saver. I recommend using this paint as well. We also added more leaf springs for towing.

So then after a couple months fixing the frame and cab and getting everything looking good we put another bed on. This bed came with the deal.

So then after that we stated doing some engine work. It is a 350 small block. We tore the top half of the engine apart. We replace the plugs, wire, cap, rotor and valve cover gaskets. Then we put an aluminum intake and a holley 600 double pumper carb on it.

My neighbor and my dad are real good friends. The neighbor told be that if I split and stack his wood for him I can have a 3 speed manual with granny gear, a 205 transfer case, and a 14 bolt rear. Trust me I worked my but off. That was a lot of wood! The automatic trans that is in the truck now doesnt shift right and the truck already has the clutch pedal in it because it came with manual from factory but the previous own put an automatic in it.

This is great to see! Gives me confidence for the future of these old trucks. Congrats & thanks for your hard work and interest. I'll be watching for what comes next.

Oh btw, pic in post #20, are those factory tow hooks I see? I'm sure you know this, but they are rare & valuable.
