Could anyone with a short stepside take some measurements for me?
Hello everyone,
Would anyone with a 73-87 stepside please take some measurements for me. I am looking to retro-fit/modify this bed on a custom application. What I am looking for (Rough measurements eyeballing with a tape will work just fine): http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e2..._side_view.jpg A: total length B: front of bed to wheel centerline (or center of fender) C: total bed height D: inside bed width E: total width from outside fender to fender F: distance from bed floor/mounts to top of bed Thank you in advance for any help, it is greatly appreciated! Cheers ~Mykk |

A: 78.4"
D: 50" E: 79.3" F: 17.5" As per GM heritiage info package http://www.gmheritagecenter.com/gm-h...tion-kits.html |
Re: Could anyone with a short stepside take some measurements for me?
Thank you, the other measurements would really be helpful. But this can get me started. Thanks again

Re: Could anyone with a short stepside take some measurements for me?
These one's are approximate:
B: 41.5" C: 23" (28" from the bottom lip of the fender) Of course, these measurements are provided with the expectation of pics of your build :) |

what are you retro fitting it to?

Re: Could anyone with a short stepside take some measurements for me?
If the truck in the picture is yours, leave it alone. It is perfect!

Re: Could anyone with a short stepside take some measurements for me?
I wish that was my truck. That was just the best truck bed (and best truck) I could find in a google search.
It's almost embarrassing to say, because I know of the online flack I'll get. But, I am thinking of mounting a modified & smoothed 73-87 stepside on my '04 RCSB http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e2...0526110850.jpg ...I mean, after all it already has an 11:1 compression, roller 276/282 cam, GenI 4 bolt 350 with a mighty demon 750. http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e2...0617001719.jpg |
Re: Could anyone with a short stepside take some measurements for me?
i HATE 88-98 beds on 67-72's, the front wheels wells are round fro crying out loud. but this might be interesting. post it in the photoshop sub-forum so you can get an idea of what it looks like

here is a side profile of my truck, test fitting a 09+ GMT900 GMC bed..... body lines didn't line up, and the the final outcome wouldn't be worth it to modify the bed mounts http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e2...721110521a.jpg |
Re: Could anyone with a short stepside take some measurements for me?
On the 73-87 stepside, is there anything behind the step? can the step be removed?
|
Re: Could anyone with a short stepside take some measurements for me?
nothing behind the step. They can be removed once the front step brace is taken out.

Re: Could anyone with a short stepside take some measurements for me?
Im trying to like it ,
The wheel opening isn't right compared to the front |
Re: Could anyone with a short stepside take some measurements for me?
If you were to cutout the fender opening from the original 04 and graft it to the older stepside fenders, I think you would nail the look...
|
Re: Could anyone with a short stepside take some measurements for me?
If you do a somewhat matching bumper on the back and grafted in the fenders, I think youd be there. Good luck with it and keep updating
