1967 Interior Gloss Level??

Hi Folks,

Been lurking here awhile but this is my first post with question, I think.

I am doing a body-off resto of a 67 c10 longbed. I want to go bare bones, full stock, 250 ci, white trim, medium blue poly color, radio delete, etc. to match my first vehicle when I turned 16. I am to the point of laying paint on the cab and have a question: What was the sheen of the painted surfaces on the interior of the cab? My recollection is that is was less glossy than the exterior but am struggling to visualize if everything/anything inside was muted gloss, just parts, or what.

I apologize if there is a thread already here I did not find while searching but could really use some expertise. Thank you in advance!!

If you are spraying from a gun then talk with your paint supplier. Most paint lines have flattener that you can add to the paint to get the proper sheen. Mix the paint as you normally would then shoot a test panel. Don't mix much as this could get expensive.Make note of how much on each test panel.Should only take a couple before you get it like you want. Back to your question. I think my 68' only has the top of the dash in flat. 67" may be different.

i used flattner in my IH interior and underhood..it turned out kind of a matt finish which is what i wanted,,,the spec sheet tells what ratio to mix for each sheen..

Any thoughts as to whether the interior, as built, was a different sheen? Mine seems to be semi-gloss or matte, but I'm not sure if thats just age or if that was factory? I can muster making the sheen I want...I just don't know what I want yet as I'm trying to go as stock as possible.

It was originally a satin finish did mine in BC w/a flattering agent witch wasn’t cheap. I have not painted my steering wheel and column but think I will do it in a glass. primarily because as you handle it you’re hands will shine it up don’t know why the dash looks flat it’s really like the back of the cabAttachment 1928939

What brand stuff did you use? What ratio of flattener? I assume a 4:1 urethane clear coat .

Don’t remember the ratio but the flatting agent is all gone and there about an inch of clear left, I went this route because the semi gloss was too shiny, and the flat to flat don’t remember but the flatting agent was pricey! In order to get the Color I wanted i had to have it mixed in shop line “Champagne sum thing poly” not my favorite brand paint but put good clear on top Attachment 1929261
