Lowered trucks are not usually lowriders. Don't confuse the two. No hydraulics, no murals, no candy paint or metalflake.

This is mine:

More pics in my gallery, though most of the pics show it before it was lowered. http://www.slonaker.net/gallery/thumbnails.php?album=3

Funny you should mention that. Among the collection of rides I have is a 86 Monte Carlo LS, and so I started checking out this lowrider forum a couple years back.

The reason the above paragraph is applicable is because there's a guy in there who did a buildup of a shortwide fleetside box-style. If you have an hour or so to read the 21 pages of his buildup and deal with the racy avatars (which I didn't mind at all) and the internet thugs (which can really get annoying), I highly recommend checking out this link:

If you don't have the time or patience, here's a few pics from his thread...

I probably would have stopped at the flat black and wide whites, but that's just me. The buildup the guy did was incredible, and he did it all himself. That makes the truck that much more awesome in my book.

Oh wow a member from Layitlow, never thought I'd find on in here. There are some people over there who have some serious talent, huh?

BTW the same guy who built this truck (Impala631) just bought another box chevy (81-87 style) and IS planning on stopping at the flat black and wide whites stage this time.

Rear: Springs have been rearched/dearched 4", 2" shackle, and also I removed the overload leaf-spring (the bottom heavyduty leaf)

Thanks,
Anthony

There are a lot of people over there who are incredibly talented. They make doing stuff to your car seem easy. They also aren't scared of tackling it themselves or with some of their buddies. I love the backyard boogie builds.

I normally spend Saturday and Sunday mornings, looking through those project topics. I saw that Impala631 had bought another one on the last page of his topic. That's one thing I wish this board had more of - build topics. I see a few in the 67-72 part, but I haven't really seen any in the 73-87 section.

Better looking is subjective, though. While I personally strive for a static drop and 17s (similar to yours), there are those out there (especially on that site) who dig the really radical mods like the doors and the tailgate and laying rocker on 22s. The truck a few posts up had the chopped top, which has never looks right to me on our bodystyle trucks. It's still impressive to me though.

I don't disagree that a lot of "our guys" have done better quality stuff. But unless your name is Trepanier or Foose, that's always going to be the case. My point was that he did all of that himself, from installing the hydros to Z'ing the frame to installing those doors to painting it. I don't know any non-professional guys who have done that in their backyard shop and had it come out as nice as that guy's did.

In the end, I'm with you on liking pretty much any lowered chevys. The topic asked for a lowrider, and that's about as close as I've seen to one with our bodystyle.

Right. That's because our trucks are not a popular truck for lowriders. I have only seen one 73-87 Chevy lowrider here in San Antonio, ever.

The point I was making was that the lowered trucks here are not lowriders. I believe the original poster thinks that lowered vehicle=lowrider, and that's not the case.

Re: howz about some 73-87 lowrider pics!

:agree:

I don't think the one I posted could really be called a lowrider either. It was just built by a guy who hangs out on a lowrider forum a lot. It has hydros, but I see a lot of proper lowriders with airbags, too. There's a bit of amiguity in the term lowrider, and not everyone knows the difference.

I think Low84's post is probably the only actual lowrider in this topic.

Meh.
