L98 Ls swap 1950 gmc
Considering removing my L98 and putting a LS. Do you think the LS engine and a 4L60e will bolt up to the same spots without a problem? I have a flat out engineering kit with 85 corvette suspension. Does anyone put catalytic converters on these swaps?

you're probably going to need some kind of motor mount adapter and not knowing what transmission your running now, no way to know if your existing trans mount will work. Why would you want to install cats? you shouldn't have to smog your truck. |

I have the 700r4 that came on the 85 Corvette engine.

08 Silverado's came factory with 5.3 and 4L65E. Same size as 4L60E, and the 4l60E is just an electric controlled 700R4 so you will have no issues bolting up. Are you currently running a controller on the transmission or sharing the ECM from the L98?
Guess back to your question, Are you running the exhaust from the corvette? What is the location of your cats? I am running dual cats on my 59 V8 swap and I have one that fits between the trans and brake booster and another that fits the passengers side. Flowmaster makes a nice set, 4" around. Found a few measurements on the internet. And here is my Cat set up. Not sure if anything I just said will help. :b69: |

Thanks for the measurements, it will help judge the room I have in the engine bay. I do not have cats on the truck currently. I do not like the gas/exhaust smell without them and was wondering if anyone used them on the swap.

Chassis engineering inc has several options for motor mounts for the LS swap depending on the suspension you have. You might have to dig your secret decoder ring out of the drawer but they should have what you need https://chassisengineeringinc.com/pr...y=motor-mounts

OP, for the most part it should fit. You might run into issues with front accessory drive clearance, and you'll have to get creative with header/exhaust manifolds. I run an S10 chassis under my '49. With the engine about a 1/2" from the firewall I had just enough room to put an electric fan in front of the engine. This is with the base truck setup on the front, which pushes them out a little further. The 98-02 F-body (and GTO) setup puts everything a touch closer to the engine. Putting the block in there shouldn't be too big of a challenge. My 91 Z28 has a 6.0l LQ9 in place of the L98. |
