60-66 vs 67-72 cab room
Biggest complaint I have about my 65 is lack of driver room ( I'm 6'3). I'm wondering how the next series compares for room.

The cabs didn't start getting any 'roomier' until the OBS '88 year model. |
Re: 60-66 vs 67-72 cab room
I'm 6'3" 255 and I think my '60 is more comfortable to drive and has a little more room than my brother's '71. He actually pointed it out to me and he's 6'4" 270.

Same seats in both trucks?
My 64 & 67 both have Buddy Buckets w/no in-cab tanks. I've sat in both w/them as far back as they can go. Even @ only 5'11, they feel the same to me as far as lacking room. |

you just need to be 5 nine and weight 175 pounds. lol
I had a 66 sb about 30 years ago and had plenty of room, I have a 65 lb now and have no room but am 65 lbs heaver |

Re: 60-66 vs 67-72 cab room
A 40/20/40 OBS seat in really good condition made a big difference for me as far as comfort. At least twice a year, we take rides anywhere from 5 to 8 hours and I honestly don't have too many complaints. The only complaint passengers have is the "knee knocker" cab design. My wife's used to it but other passengers, not so much LOL

Re: 60-66 vs 67-72 cab room
I have a 61 and 62. In the 62 it has the tank in the cab and a late 80's bench seat in it. I'm 6' tall and it's not terrible and my 85 isn't much better.

Re: 60-66 vs 67-72 cab room
Shoot, I have to scoot my seat up at 5'8" in my '63! Probably only two benefits in life of being petite stature: Fitting in my C10 and flying commercially. ;)

Re: 60-66 vs 67-72 cab room
I'm 6'2 and 185 lbs. I had to sell my 1950 3100 because I simply could not fit into it.
I couldn't even push in the clutch because my knee would mash up against the back of the steering wheel before I could even get my foot on the clutch pedal. The 60-66 cab was soooo much better, sold my 1950 and have been a 60-66 fan ever since. Miss my 1950 sometimes, but I just couldn't fit in the darn thing. |
Re: 60-66 vs 67-72 cab room
I have heard early 90's seats have a thinner back and will gain you a little room...

Re: 60-66 vs 67-72 cab room
I'm 6'3" and feel like a gorilla driving my 70. I want to keep the original seat so I am going to lower the brackets for it and relocate the fuel tank so I can push it back further. If it is still not comfortable I will look for a thinner seat.
So no don't count on the 67-72 being more comfortable. |
