Where did you get your rear leaf springs?
I am looking to get some new rear leaf springs, wondering where you guys got yours and if they have something for me. Looking for the new "soft" style springs with pads, and lowering it of course. I still don't now how much so if you have some photos of yours and what springs you got that would be awesome!:metal:

Re: Where did you get your rear leaf springs?
I am also interested. I had a set installed 15 years ago on mine when they did the IFS front end. Since I recently dragged it out of storage, I noticed with just 4 fenders and a few boxes of parts, the rear leafs are flat and bottoming out. Truck has sat unloaded for 15 years, so I cant say it was due to over loading them.

Re: Where did you get your rear leaf springs?
"Bottoming out" are you saying the rear axle is hitting the frame or the rubber bumpers? It doesn't look that low.

Years and years ago Eric, when those springs first came out we got them for a Model A coupe my brother and I were building for a friend of his, they did work real well. I had forgotten the name, thanks for posting.

Re: Where did you get your rear leaf springs?
76 Nova multi-leafs. made new front hangers from steel, used the Nova rear shackles. Notched the frame. dropped about 8" to match the Camaro front clip

This is the best I can locate
Ride height would depend on how/where you locate the hangers and shackles The tires are 255/70-15 |

Re: Where did you get your rear leaf springs?
I went with TCI's (https://totalcostinvolved.com/produc...af-spring-kit/) that I really liked. They replaced my original springs that were sagging. They include a 4" drop and rode incredibly well (did a trip from California to Austin).

Re: Where did you get your rear leaf springs?
So this photo of your truck is straight up TCI with a four inch drop bolted on? Did it require Cing the frame? It looks GOOD! :metal:

Re: Where did you get your rear leaf springs?
I am wondering what a 3" or 4" drop looks like, anyone have photos providing how much 3 or 4 inches dropped looks like?
I have nothing understand, so I don't have anything to start with. I do have photos of my truck which I think was dropped 2.5 inches come to think of it. I think I had lowering blocks made from 2.5 inch tubing. But any photos would be appreciated. Brian |
Re: Where did you get your rear leaf springs?
I just came across these mono leafs for the front that drop it 3" damn that sounds like plenty to me, anyone got a photo of a three inch drop?

I used the TCI rear axle flip kit which comes with everything necessary to complete the swap, including springs and hangers. It's a nice riding cruiser...

Re: Where did you get your rear leaf springs?
So that is a kit with wider springs where you change all the spring mounts on the frame too right?
I looked at those, but I think I am going to stay with the stock width, I am too cheap to go that route. :D But I could change my mind. Your truck sits just perfect! Brian |

Re: Where did you get your rear leaf springs?
Thanks, I know, many people do, some great offerings out there! My question is how did they work on your truck?
I am rolling through my head how much to drop it, and how to accomplish that. I am thinking the 3" dropped springs in the back, if I want to go more I can simply add lowering blocks to fine tune it. I may go with the 4" but I am thinking the 3". But the front, omg that is a whole different thing, dropped axles dropped springs, damn there is a hell of a mix. I would love to not have to drop the axle, and go with the mono leaf springs with a 3" drop. I just don't think 3" is enough for me, so a photo of a truck with a 3" drop front and rear would be awesome. Be it with stock springs and a 3" dropped axle or a stock springs with a 4" dropped axle. something to give me some ideas. Thanks to all who have posted. Brian |
Re: Where did you get your rear leaf springs?
Holy cow, I emailed Nostalgia Sids at https://www.droppedaxles.com/ asking some questions and he just called me and was SOOOOOOOO helpful! Wow, he is going to email me photos with measurements showing how these different drops work, very cool guy.

Re: Where did you get your rear leaf springs?
I read about going to a single leaf spring and it lowers the ride 3". Any one familiar with them and what kind of load will it haul? Mine will not be a garage queen but a DD.
