I'm looking for the name of this part which sits on top of the engine crossmember where the upper control arm mounts. Thanks.

Re: Identify this part?

In the GM parts book they seem to list it in
Group 6.177 BRACKET , STEERING KNUCKLE UPPER CONTROL ARM
Lists left and right

Re: Identify this part?

Ok thanks for the info. I have a couple of manuals I got off Amazon -

"1960-1966 Chev/GMC Truck Factory Assembly Instruction Manual"

and

"1966 Chevrolet Truck Ship Manual"

Neither have good parts identification information which is the manual you are are referring to?

Thanks for the link this looks to be very useful.

Seems the knuckle is the part the spindle connects to, so not the part in question. I searched and found the below.

In my original picture you can see I broke a bolt when trying to remove it in the nut that is welded on the part I'm trying to identify.

Thanks for the nice diagrams they led me to a Google search where I found this link -

I'm not familiar with the way the GM documents work but it seems bracket 6.177 is a generic reference to a common/similar part on a range of truck models and years. Then you drill down to specific groups and each has their own specific part number.

The picture for GM part number 3907837 is below so it looks like we're getting closer.

Re: Identify this part?

The part you pointed out (first post) is where the upper control arm attaches to the chassis.
That diagram (post 9) say's lower control arm. I would think that item #6 in your diagram (post 9) is what you want.

Drill it and run a tap through it. Heckavalot easier than replacing it.
