Reduced engine power

OK, I am at a loss.

I have a 2006 Siverado 2500HD with the Duramax and Allison trans. My DIC displays "REDUCED ENGINE POWER". There are no DTC's at all, no check engine light. It drives fine as long as you don't floor it. Even in Neutral with my foot on the floor, it will only get to 2000 rpm's. I can go down the highway at about 75 max as that is about 1900 rpm.

I can't figure it out. I even disconnected both batteries over night and it did nothing. Starts up and goes right into the Reduced Engine Power mode.

I did some research, found a few that mentioned coolant issues. My is full and is not overheating. Trans temps are fine, oil pressure it fine too.

Its like the pedal/TB are not in sinc but this should throw a code in the PCM. There are not any codes. I've checked it with both a hand held scanner and my son's laptop with HP Tuners.

HELP!!!

Re: Reduced engine power

Just ran across your thread. Is it chipped? If so I would unhook it and see what happens and if the message goes away it is in the chip. We have been seeing more and more of these issues.

Do a google search for bulletin # 13-08-116-001c

Re: Reduced engine power

Thanks for the reply. No it is not chipped. It is all stock except a better flowing exhaust from the down pipe back.

I finally took it to the dealer, I just did not have the time to trouble shoot anymore and needed it fixed. The day before taking it in, it still had not thrown a code. We reset the codes it did have (#3 & #7 glow plugs) and drove it. During that day, the check engine light came back on, I thought it was just eh glow plugs again. Once the dealer had it and hooked up there Tech 2 scanner, it had thrown an APP code. During the diagnostic, it turns out the accelerator pedal and senor was failing. Replaced that, reset the codes and BINGO, power was restored.

I could have fixed it myself had it thrown the code for me, but it did not and I was frustrated with it. Costly, but it is fixed. The dealer did hook me up with a loaner car for a couple days, so that was a plus!
