What are you wanting to know? Are you trying to sell it or value it?

I'm wanting to know value. Should I restore it as a original tow or cut it up and build a Lowrider

Tow trucks are totally awesome. If the masses haven't caught on yet, they will. Think about it,all these "shop truck" builds and a tow truck is the epitome of shop trucks. The nostalgic value is high between former race truck support vehicle and the days gone by neighborhood gas station and/or repair shop trucks that sat out front with pride.

How about a photo. Is it nice, rough, patina, rusty, fresh?

Yea we need pics!
My first thought is restore it paint it up with your own shop logo on the door and revel in it's awesomeness... Then drive it to all the car shows and swap meets and put a for hire sign in the window... surely someone's rod wont start every time and you can tow them home :) you could also park it in your front yard with a for hire on weekends sign and have a weekend gig that pays for gas and parts.

Watching American pickers has me thinking that all these guys that have all the old gas pumps need a tow truck for their collection! they are completely missing out!

If everything is there and it's feasible restore it to tow truck condition. Cool factor is high and don't see them at car/truck shows very often if ever. I vote to restore it back. Check out member "coops714x4" shop/tow truck 1 ton. Find it in the May Truck of the Month. Now that is a cool ride for sure.

I think a restored tow truck is an awesome idea.
Just for uniqueness, its a home run, and if you can actually put it in working condition all the better. Definitely ultimate shop truck, or really cool hot rod, either way you decide to go.

Personally, I'd like nothing better than to have a vintage roll-back. Only I'd keep hauling stuff home with it, and my wife would kill me.

Don't believe any of them, it's worthless. I can come up and take it off your hands.

If you need a little motivation to get you to restore it, see my build thread for a 69 Custom/30 tow truck that I'm doing now.

It will be done this summer! :metal:

Re: 1970 tow truck value

Y'know, I've never "understood" what motivates people to turn any truck into a lowrider... but a lowrider tow trucK? I just might have to bend my rule for that. I would like to see that.
