ouuuch... i lived north, in Wake Forest, man it sucked, down falls of the neuse-->540-->40-->RTP was the worst commute ever.

thanks, i'm going to get primer/paint/front end parts this week and going to knock that out.

Re: My new project 86 Silverado

updates...

I have the truck up in the air to disassemble the front suspension, so i'm going with mcgaughys 2.5"/4" spindle/hanger/shackle kit part #93130
I ordered a front end rebuild kit from performancesuspension, hopefully it all will be here in a few days, and I can get cracking on it.

Also got a spray gun kit from TCP global, waiting on it as well.

For the body I am going with the Kirker Black Diamond paint kit from smartshoppersinc, color will be the PLATINUM SILVER METALLIC LVB-61235

For the frame, and suspension parts It will be the Kirker epoxy primer + their hot rod black urethane

so that's it for now, i'll post pics as i tear down, and install the kits

stay tuned

We are at about the same point in our builds. I just got the flip kit on mine and tore off the contol arms last night. I still have the cab on mine but am looking for another one to put back on.

Update...
Received my spray guns in the mail yesterday.
Dropped my 455 off with Joe at cmengines.com. He walked me through their shop, and explained all the steps they'll use when building/balancing/dyno'ing my engine for the performance build. You can see the procedures on their website.
More to come...

updates...

Getting ready to spray the frame with the epoxy primer
took out the crossmember, and cleaned the frame with purple power degreaser, and the old standby Tide... works for NASCAR, good enough for me..

Re: My new project 86 Silverado

Looks like you are making good progress. I probably should have taken everything off of my frame but didn't. You are doing it right. Best of luck!

the whole front end kit was 261.00 from performancesuspension, you can't beat it for that price considering the quality of the components. energy suspension gets great reviews all over.

Nice progress. Just one question. How did the Tide work on the frame? What's the process, water and tide plus a lot of elbow grease?

yeah I went to wally world and got a gallon of purple power for 5 bucks....put it in a garden sprayer and soaked the frame, scrubbed it with a stiff nylon brush... pressure washed all that off... put 5 or 6 scoops of tide in a 5 gallon bucket, and slopped that shyt on, and let it sit a few min... scrubbed again with stiff brush... washed it off with water... did that twice, all good :)
