My 63 c10

I thought id take a moment to introduce myself and my truck. My name is Tony and I live in North East Ohio. This past fall I picked up my newest project, a 63 c10 short bed.

I used a front suspension from an 85 c10 which was treated to new ball joints, bushings, tie rods, and drop spindles.

Out back I left the stock 12 bolt in with 5" drop springs and an ECE super trac bar.

Plans include a 454 with a 700r4.

I've purchased some parts from Shortstep60 and Captainfab and would like to thank both of them for being honest and straight forward guys to deal with!

Thanks for the welcome! I got a really nice set of bezels from a member on the board. Now if i could only find a windshield!!

Tonight I got the 5" drop springs and ECE trac bar in place. Tomorrow i plan to start the classic update wiring harness, I hate wiring but this looks like a pretty straight forward and complete system.

Can't any of your local auto glass shops get a windshield for you?

Saw this guy close to you. He has a yard full of stuff. Maybe he has a windshield you can buy. https://cleveland.craigslist.org/cto/6105605669.html

All the local shops are telling me to call Pilkington Auto Glass and they are sold out. I tried the guy on Craigslist and the only spare one he has is cracked.

Are you sand bagin or was that some fast work? :)

Re: My 63 c10

I did the front suspension in February and the firewall a couple weeks back. I have the truck at work and the owners are kind enough to let me keep it in a heated workshop with a big compressor, plasma cutter, shear, and brake. I get spoiled working in there!

Gladly, thanks again!

In other news I found a windshield...one step closer! I've installed a couple before and i've had good luck with a thinner rope and using a soapy water mix to lubricate. Anyone have any helpful pointers that would be different than the other ones i've installed like this?

Re: My 63 c10

Ive never installed a -63 windshield. I can imgine in its 10x nore difficult than a 64's. Im proud to say that ive successfully installed more windows than ive broken. All i can suggest is to have at least one buddy, preferably two. Go slow, dont panic. Ease it in there with even pressure on the outside. If it starts to bind or push out on one side dont force it in. Just start over and maintain patience. I tried to compensate by pushing and smacking my buddys Longhorn installation one time with the chrome trim. It broke. It started to pop out on the passenger side. It was way more frustration than it was worth. The aftermarket rubbers tend to be a lil too long causing bunching in my experience which makes installing a window that more difficult.

Well, with that being said anyone have any suggestions on which rubber seal/gasket to use?

Slowly but surely I'm getting some work done on the truck. Had a busy summer at work but I'm back on track with the truck!

Yes, found an older gentleman locally. He made it look easy! Here are some more recent pictures. I know the bumper is on upside down...I just set it there without paying attention. Having the windshield out made it alot easier to get the dash painted! After the motor was in I was able to put in the new drop springs and drop spindles, as well as new ball joints, tie rods, bushings, & etc.
