Help and advice about engine install

I am installing a 2004 5.3 out of an avalanche into my 1965 c10 and have the engine in place and the engine mounts loosely bolted. The engine seems to want to sag down in the rear quite a bit so i have it tied off for now. Do i need the transmission installed and transmission crossmember installed for proper alignment or if I tighten the engine mounting bolts down will the engine not sag real bad. Sorry for such a simple question but this is all new to me.

Yes you should have the trans and trans crossmember in place. Leaving the engine by itself hanging from the engine mounts will ruin them. The other option would to support the engine under the rear of the oil pan.

Ok so just build some blocks underneath the oil pan to support it while I install flywheel clutch etc.
