It has one small ding in the ridge of it but a little dolly work will get it out. If I hadn't found this one I would probably go with a Cowl hood too. I think I'll stick with the stock hood on mine. I have never seen one come out of the blaster this clean. It's in DP E-Coat right now just waiting on me. :D

Yeah I had no choice mine was rotted pretty bad so instead of trying to fix it I found a brand new still in box cowl hood on craigslist for $400.00.

I think I like the one on the left .. but I like them both :D

I LOVE the top one. Nice build.

I bought my hood (post #68, page 3) for $140. It was up on edge, stored outside beside a guys shed. Originally blue, had one repaint but was in nice condition. I drove from TN to SC to get it. (from pics off CL) But, I was delivering a 69+ hood I had to '71Super' in NC anyway. I just made a day of it and went to pick this one up after I dropped the 69+ with Harold. Three states in one day for the hood off an old pickup. .. Pretty cool.

Just a couple additions on the old Big Block .. it looks a lot different now. We're still working on some of it getting the core support back on, etc. But man, the Valve Covers made it look a lot different. :metal:

WOW, I like the valve covers!!! There's so very much stuff on the market, I seldom see something that catches my eye, that I really like. I hope they fit as well as they look!!!

Where did you get them??? how much??? if you want to tell....if not. I'm good. :)

Sure man .. First, thanks for the compliments ! :D

They came from Billet Specialties. I ordered them off their website. They're $179 which I thought wasn't bad really .. I loved the GMPP valve covers I had but I like these just as much if not more. They have the Billet look, but still keep the vintage look too.

Justin (JWall) has them on his BB Cheyenne that's how I found them.

I like them, because they clean look, and they look like they might belong on that engine, in the day!!!

Do the breathers have baffles???

Coming back together ! We may try to fire it not this weekend but next. I am going to replace the dual line to the carb, .. now all the Billet is making my brackets look plain !! Ahh ! It never ends.

The core support is still all bolted together where we had it on before, so it's just a couple bolts in the mounts and of course the hoses, etc. The drive shaft is in it, shift linkage adjusted, exhaust is hooked up, trans mount is ready. Not much more to do! When we know it will fire and it is running the cab and bed come off for paint. Then the PB notch and upper shock bar. Possibly drop trailing arms. .. and um .. bags. :D We'll see.

Chrome fuel pump ?? Should I ? :haha:

Looking good! Moving right along now! :bo2:

I'd keep the fuel pump since it matches the finish of the alt. I'm a big fan of painting all the brackets and pulleys black for some contrast to the orange/chrome. Fits your overall theme also.

Beauty!! Great price as well. :metal:

I agree with Jonathan the cast finish of the intake, alternator and fuel pump blended with the polished pieces make it look kinda factory.

And JWall's truck is a stunner! Definitely one of my favorites.

Well, .. it's been a while :D I have just been piddling with the GMC, but I am about to start really laying down some paint.

What would this color look like on the 68? I think I would really like it with black buckets, basically black CST interior and my grey BS wheels. Opinions? My top and grille would be 2001 Corvette Z06 white as you see in the pics above.

This is a pearl paint, is it tough to spray?

House of Kolor - Cobalt Blue. I love it.

This is what it looks like on a car. In the sun, that would be beautiful.

Blue doesn't get any better than that... I think it'd look pretty spectacular with a white top and grille. I like it!!

Very cool paint color choice. It has always been my favorite. It will look amazing on your truck with the white accents.

I had a 71 Chevelle convertible that we painted a very similar color to that (91 Z/28 Quazar Blue) but it had a white top, white interior & white SS stripes.

Black interior will be nice but have you thought about a white interior possibly? It would go well with the white accents on the body.

Hi Chad, I found your build from a wheel/tire search. Just finished reading thru, and your truck looks awesome ! Gonna look great wearing the blue you picked. I'm late to the party, but in till the end.

Cool! thanks for checking it out. I have two of these trucks and I'm trying to get one of them finished up to be my daily driver. I took a little break from this one but I haven't forgotten about it. I have been working on blocking, etc. Just stuff to get the rest of the clip ready to paint.

A majority of this truck is ready for final block / sealer and color.. I'll get there. :D
