I wouldn't recommend that primer. Are you looking for a bare metal primer or something to go over old paint? A cheap recycled lacquer thinner is available for gun cleaning but do not use it for reduction. I've personally never used a HF gun but people like them....

One word....NO!

That's Lacquer, way, way, way outdated technology. Now mind you, I painted a zillion gallons of the stuff, my truck body parts sitting out side still look half way decent shot 40 years ago. But honestly, it's WAY outdated with much better stuff today.

It depends on what you are doing with it of course, there are many different types of primer used for many different things. Over bare metal Urethane isn't a great choice, but over bondo work and finishing up to paint it is. So it really depends on what you are using it for.

I agree no do not use it unless painting with lacquer top coat. Lacquer never really cures the solvents in it evaporate and anything put over it will come off as these solvents evaporate for a long time. You can wash 20 year old lacquer paint off with laquer thinner. Get a two part epoxy or polyester primer. Cheap lacquer thinner for cleanup.

Look up a company called Southern Poly Urethane or SPI. They make some top notch products without the top notch price tag that PPG, Dupont, Spies command.

I use epoxy primer on bare metal then use their 2k Turbo or high build urethane primer.
