Stepside hanger install issue
 

I bought two hangers for my step and i can see where it bolts to the actual step but cant find where tha back of the bracket bolts to there is open space with nothing to bolt to. Is there anyway that the front panel is from from year and too small. Does anyone know what the measurement should be

I believe they bolt to the cross sill under the bed. Bolt it to the step and hold it up to bed you should be able to see where it goes from there.

I checked out my friends c10 and yes it does bolt to to the cross sill between the brace. I'll have to post a pic of mine because it's coming up short from the bracket.

Ok I cant figure out for the life of me what's wrong. The hanger should go between cross sill but doesn't line up and seem to be alittle short. I can only slide back alittle not sure if that will help. And maybe the angle bracket on side panels was messed with and put too low. Any help would be great.

Should be two holes like this in the end of your two cross braces closest to the cab. The bracket you are holding bolts between the cross brace in its open U shape with the bolts going through these two holes into the threads in your bracket.

I had to buy new cross sill and got them from classic industries they didn't come with the holes

I saw that your sills were new and feared that was the case. Nice of them to leave that detail out...

My hanger has two holes that can be screwed down to the cross sill. Are both those holes use or is only one needed? Because if both are supposed to be attached something is wrong because only one goes into the cross sill deep enough

Should be using two 5/16" holes for each bracket to mount hangars. Please let me see a picture of what you are doing and I can advise better from there.

I had to drill mine in place. lifted the front end of the bed up and did some serious measuring and drilled. Got the passenger side dead on. The driver side, not so much. But got them installed before I sent them to paint shop. :)

These pics show the orientation and approximate hole pattern. Holes are 3/8" for 5/16" bolts.
Drilled braces would have holes on only one side so maybe recheck all of your braces for holes.

LMC carries the step and cross braces and MAR-K also has the cross braces and other bed parts. I have pieces from both that fit well.

That hole should be lined up with the hole in the cross sill. It looks like your entire bed needs to move forward.

LMC doesn't have the step braces that I or the nice lady one the phone could tell. I found some on Ebay that are a little iffy, I'd prefer a vendor.

Sorry, I thought you were looking for the "step hanger" or maybe "cross sill" (pages 18-19 on LMC 60-66 chevy truck) but if you talk about the stepside "fender brace rod" I also had trouble finding them from a source other than ebay. These rods are listed on the Goodmark Industries site as: 1965 Chevrolet C10 Pickup REAR STEPSIDE FENDER BRACE SET, 55-66 STEPSIDE PICKUP (3 PIECE SET FOR ONE SIDE) - 4141-662-55S

I made the brace for the step (attaches thru the frame) out of a set of fender braces. Just cut shaped and threaded them. Worked well. In fact someone on this board gave me that idea. :)
