The truck is also very rusty, i'm just going to use most of the good parts to fix another one of my trucks. Thanks for the offer though.

Around here I ocassionally see a 250/6 on CL for $200-500,Unfortunately I don't know if they ever sell. The other thing about them is they "Runs good" but are out of the truck. So how do I know it runs good?

If they are pretty much complete & you have a jump starter or battery and an oil pressure gauge you can start them sitting on the floor. I just did that with 2 292's I just got. Just attach the oil pressure gauge, hook the negative cable to the block, positive cable to the large post on the starter solenoid, a jumper wire from the positive cable to the coil or HEI, pour a little gas in the carb and momentarily short the positive cable to the S terminal on the solenoid. It should fire right up. Listen to how it sounds and check the oil pressure. You may have to start it a couple of times to get the oil pressure read.

Yah that a good idea, i also have a stand to run engines on with ignition and a radiator. It helped me sell a 350 i had. I figured people would choose hearing one run over taking someones word as there are alot of untrustworthy people out there. Like the guy i got this truck from, my dad picked it up for me and he just had shoulder surgery and didnt look it over. He told me i could drive it home and the frame is really bad. He failed to mention that lol.

This pic is when i first got home to see it. After a couple small rides the rear coil is now coming through the rotted bed floor. I think thats about as bad as it gets.

Pretty much the same around here. If it's not a V-8, nobody is interested. It is amazing how things change. 25 years ago I had a couple good working th350 trannys and couldn't give them away because they weren't th400's. Same with the 400 Pontiacs. Scrap guy used to dump whole engines by my garage, I'd strip the heads off and scrap the rest.

There is a 250 for sale here locally for 250. Been on there for 3-4 months now and has gone down from 300 at least. Same guy is trying to sell a SM465 for 350. But he also has it listed in a separate ad for 300. I think he is just your run of the mill junkyard guy. I think both of them are worth it if it is what you want. I am vaguely interested in both but I would go in there lowballing and deal from there.
