Seam sealer used here?

Working on a 68 swb. Around the windshield area- At the top and bottom of the roof pillars about 2-3 inches inboard from the pillars there is a pretty deep (maybe 1/4") gap. Once the windshield is out, you can really see it. Do ya'll just use seal sealer to fill this or would welding up the seams be better, prior to paint and installing new windshield ? Tks :chevy:

Re: Seam sealer used here?

Just about to do mine, I use polyurethane caulk over epoxy primer. Sika Flex 1A Polyurethane in vertical seams, 3m 5200 is another good one. Windshield people use Sika Flex to bed newer style windshields. Just my 2 cents, others probably use 2 part SEM or 3M products. Here is a link to some useful info....http://autobodystore.com/seamsealer.shtml
