62 c/10 front suspension
Who can tell me a little about the front torsion bar suspension. I've messed with a lot of coil springs, but never torsion bars. I'm looking at dismantling this thing to bare frame, or not lol. Just don't want anything flying out in my face.

Re: 62 c/10 front suspension
Get your truck up off the ground. Loosen the bolts the adjust the tortion bars. I think they take a 15/16 socket. They should loosen up and take tension off to remove them.. The rear part of the bar just sits in a pocket and will come down when you take off the lower control arm off.
When I replaced my lower ball joints they came apart easy. If you plan to keep the bars, it will be kinda tricky to get them readjusted to keep the truck level. I kinda did that by eye. |

Lots of penetrant I used WD40 new stuff, PB Blaster or the like. Tightening gets lift, loosening gets you lower. Support pork chops with jack and loosen bolt lower jack. It s like letting a spring down slowly. Use a big bar or punch to push bars out of arms. Rest is just bolts.
