Power steering conversion

Thinking about converting my 68 k20 to power steering. Does anyone have a picture of their 4x4 with power steering box setup? I know I will have to address non dimpled frame. My question is more of, my manual box has pitman arm coming off side and power steering gears come off bottom. Do I still connect power steering pitman arm to the same drag linkm or will drag link need to be changed also? Thanks

You can use the adapter that captain fab sell for the 60-66 trucks for mounting to the frame. My 68 front rear was changed to a disc brake D44 so I just used the later model steering.

Ok, mine has also been upgraded with a dana 44 out of a 76 chevy. Thanks.

1968 should be dimpled, unless it is a left over 67

Mine is a VIN verified 68 with a flat frame. Does anyone have a picture of a squarebody power steering gear with pitman arm coming off the side? I looked on rock auto and all of those appear to come off the bottom.

I don't think any of the power gear boxes used an arm on the side like that. I'm not sure what the difference in drag links would be but it might be easier to order a new one when you buy the new box.

My '68 K10 has the flat frame, and it actually has a '76 K20 axle under it as well. I switched to crossover steering using a 2WD box (with Captainfab adapter) so I can't say whether or not the old drag link would have worked.

Here is my 68 I converted. I did use the 60-66 plate with ORD power steering bracing also. You can kinda see the adapter plate in the second picture.

You'll also noticed we both used read head steering boxes and both of our tow hooks are facing forward witch is correct for 68 4x4.
